( Meaningof ) TARAHUMARA’S (Foot Runner)Tarahumara Indians are a tribe who have chosen to live apart from modernwestern culture. They live primitively, subsisting on corn, beans, and theirlivestock. In the winter they live in caves, moving into small log cabins in thesummer. They are excellent weavers and produce fine wool blankets to pro-vide warmth during the harsh winters of the canyon. Tarahumaras like mostnative American tribes, they have suffered since the arrival of the conquista-dors. Though they were not hit as hard by European diseases their life spanis on average, fairly short.
