MEET OUR CLIENTS

Steve* and Celina* were an early-30s professional couple referred to us by a CPA. Even though they both earned big salaries, they had almost zero net worth after years of working in prestigious careers. Still paying off student loans and a mountain of debt, Steve wanted to get out from under an onerous debt burden. Celina wanted to implement a plan that included starting and building a family.

Tannery Wealth Management constructed a detailed financial plan that incorporated both of their desires, as

MEET OUR CLIENTS

Nick* was a rising sales executive for a national firm. We suggested a plan to keep more of his money so he could invest in a home and perhaps a business of his own.

Soon after, Nick brought his parents, Bill* and Joan*, in to our office. His parents never wanted to see another financial advisor after they lost much of their wealth in the 2001 stock market meltdown. After lengthy discussions to identify their dreams as well as their fears, Tannery & Company constructed a plan to generate an income stream to help them retire, while preserving their primary assets. Joan’s big dream

was to buy a new house with a big garden for Bill, but she never felt they had enough saved to do it. After analyzing their situation, we said, “You have the money—go buy the house!”

We met Meg after she had suffered through a bitter four-year divorce battle with a husband who unexpectedly left her for another woman. A stay-at-home mom, she was suddenly thrust into financial decisions she felt ill prepared for. On top of that, two years later the ex-husband informed his daughters they couldn’t count on him to fund their promised college education. Meg came to us in a crisis situation. “What am I going to do?” she asked. At Tannery & Company, we pulled the emergency cord. Within 24 hours, we researched college costs and updated her wealth management plan to consider all

three girls attending the college of their choice. We spent many hours playing “what-if” scenarios to show her the flexibility of her overall plan and how it can be modified to meet changing conditions.

Michael Tannery’s passion for his work comes from “seeing people achieve what they never dared hope to accomplish” through sound wealth management strategies. He is known for his intense loyalty to his clients. His burning desire is to create a legacy and a path of opportunity for those that follow.

In 2001, he co-founded Tannery & Company Wealth Management with his wife Tina, and serves as CEO. Prior to that, he held senior positions at Prudential Securities and Merrill Lynch. Trained as a CPA, Michael spent the early part of his career as a partner in Pannell Kerr Forster, a national CPA firm.

In July of 2010, Michael was recognized in Texas Monthly magazine as a Five-Star Wealth Manager. A lifelong resident of Richardson, Texas, Michael grew up in the JJ Pearce area and participated as athlete, coach and referee in youth sports and the YMCA. A graduate and athlete at SMU, he loves to follow Mustang sports. He remains passionate about fitness, and enjoys bicycle racing like his annual pilgrimage to the Hotter ‘N Hell 100-mile race in Wichita Falls. Michael is a graduate of Leadership Richardson and is active at First Methodist Church of Richardson.

While Michael enjoys the visioning part of portfolio management, Tina Tannery delights in helping clients work through the details. She is relentless in tracking down and verifying information, and ensuring every single element of a client’s financial world is in order.

Tina began her career as a banker with Texas Commerce Bank in Houston. In 1993, she relocated to Dallas to continue within the Chase Bank Trust Services. She joined Merrill Lynch as a financial advisor in 2000. On their one-year wedding anniversary in 2001, Tina co-founded Tannery & Company Wealth Management with her husband Michael. They wanted to establish a unique wealth management company that could make a significant difference in improving the quality of life for clients.

Since arriving in Richardson, she has made an impact on the community through volunteer leadership and currently serves on the Board of the Methodist Richardson Medical Center Foundation and Richardson’s Women in Leadership. Tina enjoys participating in biking and running, triathlon events, gardening, photography and cooking. She is also a graduate of the Leadership Richardson program.

CHRISSY PATCHIN DIRECTOR OF FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Chrissy manages the client experience, from serving as our front-desk ambassador to efficient document handling to renowned customer service. She is the one who always takes your call, and follows up with diligence and care. Before working at Tannery & Company, Chrissy spent several years in the insurance industry as a property and casualty agent. She is a graduate of Leadership Richardson Class XXIII, and volunteers at the American Hospice Association. Chrissy is an avid fitness enthusiast, running coach, and marathon runner.

SARAH RIEHM

DIRECTOR OF RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT Sarah manages client communications, including our new e-letter and social media marketing. She holds a Masters Degree in International Finance, and has published numerous articles and business books, including Entrepreneurship: Building the American Dream (West) and 50 Great Business Ideas for Teens (Simon & Shuster/Arco). Listed in Who’s Who of the World and Cambridge’s Outstanding People of the 20th Century, her books and articles have been featured on Good Morning America, NBC News, the Washington Post, USA Today, among many others. Prior to her current marketing assignment, she served as a manager at IBM; Rockwell/Collins; Peat, Marwick, Mitchell; and as Executive Director of the nonprofit Angel Flight.

Tannery & Company Wealth Management was created by Michael and Tina Tannery on December 2, 2001. Combining their financial services practices on their first wedding anniversary was like no other anniversary present that they could give each other. The freedom to work as independent financial wealth management advisors was compelling and the

driving force behind the creation. Tannery & Company Wealth Management started that day with Michael and Tina and six clients.

The original vision from the beginning has been focused on connecting with our clients in remarkable ways to create extraordinary relationships that simplify the demands of managing their wealth.

Since that first day Tannery & Company Wealth Management has worked with clients that desire the independent approach to total wealth management. We concentrate on helping a select group of high-net-worth individuals and families to work toward achieving their life goals. Our approach is not for everyone!
