Why? : • Unusually low rainfall corn and bean crops affected

food supply and livelihoods• multiple causality, complexity + magnitude of malnutrition

exceeds GOG capacity to respond.

Guatemala: 4th worst chronic malnutrition rate in the world.

10,000 families in 170 communities

in the 3 departments in eastern Guatemala.

The Pencil & Paper method takes time and allows for mistakes.

Data collected using Pencil & Paper must be transferred to a database, one more chance for mistakes, in order to be useful for analysis and decision making.
