Dr Simmons was born in Lake Worth and is a graduate of the Uni-versity of Florida, where he received his Doctor of Veterinary Medi-cine in 1981. He established Simmons Veterinary Hospital in 1982 and the Professional Pet Center Complex in 1988. In 2002, he created the Barkers Hotel, the Purrington Inn and the Bark Park playgrounds. In 2007, the Barkers Hotel underwent extensive renovations to include luxurious accommodations such as the Barkmore Villas, Fur Seasons Penthouses and Woof Avenue Suites.

“I’ve always wanted to create a pet care facility that would provide for all of your pets’ needs….from a pet “Boutique” and an exclusive pet Hotel and park, to a hi-tech medical and surgical hospital. An intense love for animals and the constant effort to improve the way we care for them, are the driving forces behind my basic philosophy. We treat and care for both the patient and the client as if they were part of our family”

Our advanced computer system provides us access to all of your pets medical records in our virtually paperless hospital.

Reception Area We have separate greeting areas for our feline and canine friends. This design creates a less stressful atmosphere for both pet and owner.

Central pharmacy and retail Our hospital has a full service pharmacy to provide for all of your pet’s food and prescription needs.

State of the Art Medicine SVH utilizes the most modern tools available in the veterinary field to help diagnose and treat each pet.

MedRX We use a digital fiber-optic camera to examine and diagnose diseases of our patient’s eyes, ears, nose, and throat.

CO2 Laser Our laser surgical unit is the most advanced in the Veterinary profession. It enables us to work in areas that were previously considered inaccessible, with minimal bleeding and post-operative pain.

Endoscopy Gastrointestinal endoscopy offers great advantages to patient diagnosis and treatment, allowing the veterinarian to examine your pet internally without the invasiveness of surgery.

With a two-acre Bark Park and ultra-modern, luxury accommodations it is easy to understand why. A place for pets to enjoy an exciting change from everyday life at home. We strive to be truly a vacation spot for pets!

Established in 2001 and ex-tensively renovated in 2007, the “pet resort” was created to allow clients to travel without the guilt felt when leaving their best friend.

The Pet Resort-Our guests stay in climate controlled spacious rooms that allow your pet to “step outside” any time they want during the day. Spe-cial accommodations have their own “room with a view.”

A sound proof environment at the Purrington Inn pro-vides our feline guests with the peace and quiet they prefer. Every cat is allowed lots of time to explore our “Kitty City” and to play on their very own jungle gym.

Every guest gets to play off-leash in our “Bark Parks” each morning and afternoon. We have five separate parks for our guests. Use our special “Web-cams” to watch your “kid” run and play or lounge in our “Puppy pools”.

The Barkers Hotel also offers membership the Hurri-K9 and

Cat-astrophe Clubs offer priority shelter during hurricane emer-gencies.

Our pet boutique is luxuriously appointed to provide a clean, comfortable, friendly environment for all of your pets’ grooming needs.

All guests at the Barkers Hotel and Purrington Inn are attended to by our talented grooming staff during their stay.

From an exacting scissor cut to a complete shave down. When we have finished, your pet will look like they are ready for a “glamour shot.”

Our groomers use digital photos to document their work to ensure that each groom looks exactly how you hoped it would.
