Summit Circle Lodge Rocks
Introduced at the 2012 National Order of the Arrow Conference (NOAC), Legacy Project 2015 was
a multi-phase project that aimed to have lodges think about their legacies. The four year-long
phases included the lodge rock, legacy lid, history book, and centennial fire. During 2012 each
lodge was asked to mail an engraved rock to national chairman, Ray Capp, with their lodge’s
name and location of their council office. The Lodge rocks have been incorporated into the
design of the new Summit Circle, the Order’s national ceremonial grounds at the Summit Bechtel
Reserve.
The active Lodge’s rocks were incorporated into the 16 columns that lead from the Legacy Plaza
to the Summit Circle and into an Overlook. The first column contains a quote from Ray Capp,
Chairman National OA Committee: “As you walk the trail of reflection. Rekindle the Brotherhood,
Cheerfulness and Service within that you may add to the flame lighting the way for the next
century.” The remaining columns hold 15 blazes reminiscent of the Ordeal Ceremony. These
light posts illuminate the way into the ceremony site along a path called “the reflection trail”,
reminding us of important quotes from our ceremonies, our founder, and our lore.
The Overlook contains Wimachtendienk, Wingolauchsik, Witahemui - The Brotherhood of
Cheerful Service.
The Legacy Plaza contains rocks from lodges that no longer exist having been merged or
absorbed into other lodges or having been dissolved or split.
This document contains a list of all the lodge rocks and their location along with pictures of the
columns and Overlook.
Location Key
If the Lodge Rock location is a number and a letter it is located in one of the 16 columns. The
number indicates the column and the letter indicates the location on the column. Zero being the
first column and 1 – 15 for the next fifteen columns representing the 15 blazes. ‘F’ indicates the
rock is on the front or the column, ‘L’ on the left and ‘R’ on the right.
If the Lodge Rock Location starts with the letter O if is on the overlook. If there are three letters
following the O that indicates it is on one of the three pillars: WIM for Wimachtendienk, WIN for
Wingolauchsik, and WIT for Witahemui. The last letter represents front, left, and right as on the
columns. An O followed by an F indicates it is on the front of the overlook between the three
Overlook pillars.
If the Lodge Rock location is two numbers it is in the Legacy Plaza. The first number is the row,
starting from the front and the second being the offset reading from the left to the right.
