Facts about New Zealand
New Zealand is located in the Southwest Pacific Ocean and consists of two main Islands as well as a number of smaller ones.
The principal Islands are the North and South Islands which are separated by the Cook Strait.
New Zealand is in the Southern Hemisphere, so January and February are the warmest months, Autumn is from March to May, Winter is from June to August, and Spring runs from September to November.
Capital of New Zealand is Wellington but the most popular and happening city is Auckland.
The official languages in use in New Zealand are English and Maori.
The total population of New Zealand is approximately 4.5 Million while the population of Auckland is 1.4 Million. Hence one third of New Zealand's total population resides in Auckland.

Types of Educational Institutions in NewZealand
Universities : There are 8 Government-funded universities providing undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes.
Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics : A popular option is to study at one of the
18 government funded Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics. They offer a widevariety of programmes which can be both academically and vocationally focused.
Private Tertiary and Training Establishments :There are a growing number of private tertiary and training providers offering an alternative study option. They offer a range of programmes including professional certificates, diplomas and degrees in a diverse range of subjects including art, the hospitality industry, computer studies, secretarial studies, quality management, ecotourism and others.
Intakes and Deadlines
There are generally two Intakes in New Zealand: February and July.
However ITPs and Private Institutes may have different Intakes for different courses.
Practically there is an intake every month in some or the other institution resulting in recruitment throughout the year.
There is no deadline as such in New Zealand but it is recommended to send applications at least 4 months prior to the start date to avoid end moment troubles.
For Undergraduate Diploma & Bachelors Degree: 12th with 50% to 70% range.
For Graduate Diploma, PG Diploma, Masters : Bachelors with 55% and above.
Undergraduate Diploma, Bachelors Degree & Graduate Diploma: IELTS 6.0 with no bands less then 5.5. Few Private institutions will accept IELTS 5.5 (5) for specific UG Diplomas. Post Graduate Diplomas & Masters : IELTS 6.5 with no band less than 6.0.
Documents required for application
Correct application form.
A Statement of purpose (for Masters & PG Diploma only).
2 Letters of Recommendation (for Masters & PG Diploma only) and Work
Experience if any.
IELTS, PTE or TOEFL Score Card.
Duly attested Degree/Provisional/Completion Certificate and all the Mark sheets of Bachelors.
Duly attested Passing Certificates & Mark sheets of 12th Std or Intermediate & 10th Std.
If the 10th or 12th Mark sheet contains only the subject codes, subject key should be mentioned.
Copy of Passport (1st & last page).
All the documents should be notarized for the University applications only.
Student Work Rights
Eligible students can work up to 20 hours in any given week during the academic year.
Students undertaking a course of 12 months or more may work full-time during the holidays. A partner of an eligible student may apply for a work permit for full time working valid for the duration of the study course, only if the student is an applicant for a full time course of Level 7 in areas as specified in the Long Term Skill Shortage List. However partners of all students on study course of Level 8 and above can work full time without any condition.
Student Work Rights
The student after completion of studies in NZ and graduating can hold a 12 months Graduate Job Search visa which enables him to start working in any job (not relevant to qualification also).
Graduates with Long Term Skilled Job offer that is relevant to their qualification, can apply for a Graduate Work Experience Visa for two years after their 12 months Graduate Job Search Visa is over.
For Qualifying to Work after studies the student needs to fulfill the following Academic requirements.
Qualification at Level 7 and above for at least 1 academic year.
Single qualification of two years at Level 4-6.
Two qualifications at Level 4-6 each requiring at least 1 academic year provided the second qualification is at a higher level than the first (2 years study in New Zealand in total).
Job Search Work Visa
Students who have successfully completed in New Zealand a qualification that wouldqualify for Graduate Job Search Work Visa have to apply within 3 months after the end date of the studentvisa for that qualification.
Students will be granted a work visa for a maximum period of 12 months on followingconditions:
1. Applicants must provide a completed work visa application form and fee.
2. Evidence that they have successfully completed a qualification in New Zealand that meets the study to work qualification requirements.
3. Evidence that they have a minimum of$4200 in funds available to maintain
themselves during their stay in New Zealand.
Evidence of an offer of employment is not required.
