Listen to him. It is wonderful to begin this week acknowledging that we need God's help in listening and hearing. It is so powerful to ask for the "gift of integrity" - to express our desire for wholeness. And, we humbly ask for light in the midst of whatever might "shadow our vision." This is the God who allows Jesus to be transfigured before his disciples, to prepare them for what they were about to face. This is our God, who can give each of us the change of heart we ask for.

No flowers are allowed during Lent in the church or chapel.

Daylight Savings begins next week. Remember to move your clock/watch forward an hour.

Adult Ministry and Faith formation: Because Our Faith is too rich and beautiful to have ever learned it All…Contact Heidi Clark, Director of Adult Ministry, 281.333.3891, Ext. 328 or [email protected]

Adult faith formation at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church is centered around the understanding that living “The Way” taught by Jesus Christ is a life-long, evolving journey, involving both effort and decision. To enable adults to explore the faith and deepen their knowledge of God’s Word, we provide many opportunities to come together in a learning environment. As a diverse community with a small parish feel, we know it is important to walk that journey with others and to share what we have learned along the way.

Can You Defend Your Faith? Spouses, friends, coworkers, adult children, rebellious teens, in-laws, sometimes even strangers put us in a position of needing to defend what we believe. It is not unusual to find it hard to put into words what is so personal and yet so profound. If you find yourself struggling to articulate your faith, we are once again offering a program called Symbolon that promises to help you grow in your faith and know it more deeply than ever before. Symbolon takes participants on a journey into the timeless beauty and truths of the Catholic faith—all while revealing God’s incredible love for us as expressed in the story of salvation. The series is being offered on Thursday afternoons at 2 PM in Room 1. The only cost involved is $20 for the workbook.

Women’s ACTS Retreat Registrations are being accepted for the next women’s ACTS retreat set to take place the weekend of April 9–12. Contact Amy Morris for information: [email protected].

Couples, Do You Need a Weekend Away?

“This is the time of fulfillment. The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the Gospel.” Allow God to work and move in your marriage relationship. The next Worldwide Marriage Encounter weekends are April 17-19 and June 19-21. These are wonderful weekends away from it all where you get to focus on each other and the love you share. Register early to reserve a spot. Contact Brian and Tina Little at 281.773.4014 or go online to houstonme.org.

Join the Ladies Lunch Bunch Ladies of the parish are invited to join the St. Paul's Over 50 Lunch Bunch on Wednesday, March 11, at Angelo's Pizza and Pasta, 400 West Bay Area Blvd, Webster 77598, at 12:30 PM. We look forward to having some new faces join us for friendly conversation and delicious food.

Catholic Prayer is Next Adult Catechism Topic: March 10

The Catechism reminds us that Jesus asks us to believe in order to pray and to pray in order to believe. There is a complementarity in which knowing and loving God support each other. But how? Find out by attending our next adult catechism program set for Tuesday, March 10, at 7:30 PM in Room 10. Discussions are facilitated by author, teacher and theologian, Julie Dienno-Demarest. Adult catechism sessions stand independently of one another; attend as often as you like. They are open to anyone interested in learning more about our faith. If you can’t attend this session, mark your calendar for the next one set for Tuesday, March 24: The Depth and Beauty of the Our Father.

Do you want to be Catholic? The process of becoming a Catholic is called the RCIA, the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. The RCIA is a process of coming to know Jesus Christ on a personal level and growing in readiness and commitment to be part of the Catholic Christian community. Find out more by contacting Heidi Clark at [email protected].

Creighton NFP Intro Sessions Upcoming sessions are scheduled for the following Saturday mornings: March 21, April 11, May 2, and June 13. They take place from 10 AM to noon in Room 1. The intro sessions cost $25 with an optional $35 materials fee. Contact Laurel DeMary if you are interested in attending a session by emailing her at [email protected].

March is a busy month for our ECP. We have spring pictures, Go Texan Day, and Spring Break!

Pictures will be taken on March 5th and 6th and they will be Easter themed.

On March 11th and 12th, we will have our Annual Go Texan Day Celebration. This is always a blast for our little ones. We encourage dressing up in rodeo gear for school on this day. Spring Break will be March 16th - 20th. However, our ECP is closed on Friday, March 13th, giving our little guys one extra day at home. Fun Bible Facts for Kids:

Did you know that dogs are mentioned in the Bible 14 times, lions are mentioned 55 times

and house cats are not mentioned at all! Almonds and pistachios are the only nuts mentioned in the Bible. We are looking for new items for our silent auction that we will hold in April. Monetary donations are also welcomed! Thank you for your support of our Awesome Program! Healthy lunch idea: A peanut butter, jelly, and banana roll up! Spread peanut butter and jelly on a tortilla. Place a whole banana in the center and roll!

    Office Hours: Tuesday – Wednesday, 9:30 - 11:30 AM Thursday: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Lent is a call not just to “give up something” but more important to “give something for the poor.” Wherever you live in the parish, there are poor families within walking distance of your home. When in need, they ring the rectory bell. They are, in effect, ringing your doorbell. Your almsgiving in the St. Vincent de Paul poor box will help the poor to celebrate the grace of God’s love this Easter.

Through your gifts, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul was able to provide the following assistance in the month of January:

    Number of Households Assisted: 98 Food $2,665 = 80 Families, 211 people (92 children)

    Rent: $5,800 = 27 Families Utilities: $3,801 = 35 Families Home Visits: 13

Vincentians also logged 239 hours of service and 1030 miles during the month of December.

Volunteer Opportunity: Food Pantry Manager Needed: This position involves placing online orders with the Houston Food Bank (1-2 times per month), shelving the food donated by parishioners, and coordinating food pickup and delivery to St. Paul. We even have a list of families who have volunteered to drive to the HFB to pick up our orders. On average, the pantry provided food for over 200 people (half of which are typically children). If you feel the call to serve our Lord by serving your neighbor in this way, please contact Nancy at [email protected].

The SVDP Society would like to recognize and thank Jim Casmus for his service as Food Bank Manager over the past year, who helped us get off to a great start!
