Living Stewardship We are accountable for the gifts God has given us on Earth – our time, talent and treasure. One day

each of us will be asked by God what we did with those gifts. How will I respond?

Society of St. Vincent de Paul In today’s Gospel we see how in faith, Jarius asked Jesus to heal his daughter and how Jesus then answered his prayer.

In prayer we also come to know we are loved by God, and in that trust we ask for healing for ourselves, our loved ones and all those who are suffering. This week, please join with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in praying for the healing of all those who are ill and especially those who have no one to pray for them.

Stewardship Thought Today’s reading from St. Paul explains the “divine economy” of stewardship –

“The relief of others ought not to impoverish you; there should be a certain equality. Your plenty at the present time should supply their need so that

their surplus may in turn one day supply your need.”

Safe Environment Teach Kids to Protect Themselves at Home

We consider our homes to be safe places for our children. But being home alone can pose risks for chil-dren. Here are a few tips to teach kids that will help keep them safe when you are not with them at home: Never answer the door if alone. Do not invite anyone in the house without the permission of a parent or babysitter. Don’t tell anyone on the phone that your parents are not home. Instead, tell them that your par-ents can’t come to the phone, and take a message. Source: “Know the Rules … After School Safety Tips for Children Who Are Home Alone.”

The positive effects of Reconciliation We are at peace with God again!

EVENTS

June 27, 2021 13th Sunday in Ordinary Time

$crip Sellers Urgently Needed! To have $crip gift cards available in the Parish Hall after the weekend Masses, we need adults to sell Scrip after all the Masses. It takes little time. Bishop Ryan families are invited to help and earn hours with this stewardship! Please contact Monica in the parish office, 839-7076, if you are willing to assist BRCS.

On July 25, 2021, St. John the Apostle will celebrate our 60th anniversary! The date approaches quickly, and meetings have begun to plan for our celebration. The centerpiece of this celebration is depicted in the picture above! A life-sized crucifixion scene on the south can-opy will be lit up at night. Our Bishop will be present for the celebration dedication and we will have a meal together as a parish family.

Please respond to the 60th anniversary invitation you received in the mail!

This event offers us a chance to honor the first members, living and deceased, of this blessed parish. Any family or individual who would like to honor/memorialize a particular person may give an offering toward this statue project.

Please mention 60th Statue project in your check memo and return your check to the parish office.

The person honored/memorialized will be listed in the booklet we plan to produce to remember the cele-bration and all those that made it possible. We ask your help with the booklet we will produce, by providing us a picture and a brief bio of the person or family that your contribution is given in memory of. Questions? Please call the parish office, 839-7076.

Praising Our Lord in Song We need a substitute keyboardist to fill in oc-casionally for a weekend Mass. Most of the

music, except the Responsorial and Alleluia, is record-ed, so you don’t need to know it all. This is a paid position. Call Peggy Montgomery, Music Director, 839-4019, or see her at any weekend Mass. More singers are needed, especially for 10:30 Sunday. Practice is 30 minutes before each Mass. Remember: Singing is praying twice. ~ St. Augustine
