by a trio of Organ/Piano, Oboe and Violin, Sunday, December 13, 2020 at 2:00pm in the church. Tickets are $10 each and are available to purchase at the Rectory during regular business hours of 9:00-4:00 PM.

This year, Dave and Don will present a fun style concert that will entertain you as they perform some of our most treasured and favorite Christmas car-ols. It will be an afternoon of laughing, reminiscing, joyfulness, lifting of the spirit, and good ole’ fun Christmas cheer as we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior. Songs on the program will take us on a journey from the anticipation of Advent, to Mary’s experience, to the birth of the Christ Child. We will have a fun sing-along with the audience, an Organ solo, and some other surprises. It’s a don’t miss, one-time performance. Limited seating available so get your tickets now. Of course, we will include social distanc-ing and the usual precautions.

A miniature police badge was found in a collection basket recently, if anyone lost one, please contact the Rectory.

STEWARDSHIP IS A WAY OF LIFE

~ GOD'S PLAN FOR GIVING ~ For the Lord’s generosity, we returned to His Church

Due to Early Bulletin Submission due to Thanksgiving Holiday, Collection Totals are not available. Will be in next weeks bulletin.

Today is the first day of Advent - which is also the start of the church’s liturgical calendar. The litur-gical calendar helps us to follow the life of Christ throughout the year and experienced by the lit-urgy. Advent is the season we prepare for the

great Solemnity of Christmas, it is a season of preparation, simi-lar to Lent, but less penitential. Now granted, in the stores we have already seen Christmas decorations for some months, but for us Advent is distinct from Christmas. Also - in the retail world - the day after Christmas is the end of Christmas but for us is the start of the Christmas season, which culminates with the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord. Furthermore, Advent is a sea-son we will experience mostly at Church - although some fami-lies might use an Advent Wreath. Part of our challenge is - how to keep the balance between the demands of the secular Christ-mas season - and the preparation for the coming Christ Child. Well - hopefully that is expressed by our participation at Sunday Mass, being consistent in prayer and charity and also to do a bit of spiritual reading in this holy season.

The Cafeteria/Community Room is moving along - the first row of block has been laid, and hopefully we will have good weather so work can carry on at a good pace. Work on the kitchen and bathrooms is also on schedule. It is great to think - in time, when this terrible pandemic has been defeated - we will be able to celebrate in the new space.

    Yours in Christ,

    Father Fallon

CHRISTMAS ANGEL PROJECT - have provided gifts for needy families through Catholic Community Charities located in Haverstraw for years. How-ever, as we all know, things are different now. To protect the families we help, as well as parish-

ioners, we will not be collecting gifts this year. Instead, we are asking for donations of gift cards. For example, Kohl’s, Target, Walmart, Old Navy etc. They’ll be distributed to needy parents to use for gifts for their children. Gift cards are appreciated in any denomination of $25 or less. The Angel tag will be on the Giving Tree which you can put the gift card in a Christmas card with the tag and drop off at church in a designated area.

IMMACULATE CONCEPTION Is celebrated on Tuesday, December 8. Masses will be offered here on Monday evening, December at 5:30 PM and on Tuesday, December 8 at 9:00 AM and 12:10 PM.

Attention Altar Servers and Parents— An email was sent out last week asking to please respond to Deirdre if you are inter-ested in having your son or daughter re-turn to altar serving. Service will be re-

duced - essentially carrying in the candles and cross, ringing the bells, then processing out at the end. Servers will sit in the chairs in the area where the lector sits. Please contact Deirdre at the Rectory either by email: [email protected] or call (845) 947-1873.

We need your help to decorate the church for Christmas. If you can assist. Please let us know by calling the Rectory 947-1873 or email [email protected]. Decorating

will take place Tuesday, December 22 at 11 AM. Please meet in the church.

FIRST FRIDAY ADORATION - Will be on Friday, December 4, from 8:00am-8:00pm. If you would like to do an hour you can sign up on the parish website: www.stgregorybarbarigo.org. There are 3

time slots per hour for sign up. There is a limit of 5 people in the Chapel at one time.

PROPAGATION OF THE FAITH - Appeal will be next Sun-day, December 6. Each year the Society for the Propaga-tion of the Faith sponsors the Missionary Cooperative Appeal for the important work done in spreading the Gos-pel to other parts of the world. We usually have a speaker, however with the current pandemic no speaker will be heard, there will just be a second collection for this great cause.
