The YAC is sponsoring Eucharistic Adoration on the First and Third Wednesdays of the Month 7:30-8:30PM. It is in the upper church and all COVID protocol must be followed. All are welcome.

Do you want to make the Lenten season more meaningful for you this year? We invite all young adults to join us for men's and women's groups during Lent. We will share and support each other about how our Lenten commitments are going, discuss Bible passages and other reflections related to the Eucharist, and pray together. The St. Vincent de Paul Society aids families in our parish who are struggling financially. Material aid is given in the form of gift cards, rental and utility assistance and furniture purchased

through the St. Vincent de Paul warehouse. Many other emergencies are helped too. Nuestra Señora de Suyapa La imagen de Nuestra Señora de Suyapa fue hallada un sábado del mes de febrero, por Alejandro Colindres, un joven y humilde lab-rador y por un niño de ocho años llamado Jorge Martinez, quienes regresaban a la aldea de Suyapa, cansados de trabajar todo el día en la cosecha del maíz. Ya llevaban la mitad de la jornada

cuando les anocheció. Habían llegado a la quebrada del Piligüín un buen lugar para pernoctar. Allí se acostaron en el duro suelo. Enseguida Alejandro sintió que un objeto, al parecer una piedra, le impedía acomodar la espalda. A oscuras lo tomó del suelo y lo arrojó lejos. Curiosamente al recostarse nuevamente sintió aquella molestia en el mismo lugar y esta vez no lo tiró sino que, intrigado por lo acontecido, lo guardó en su mochila. A la luz del amanecer descubrió sorprendido que el misterioso objeto era una peque-ña imagen de Nuestra Señora tallada en madera de cedro. En 1925 Pío XII declaró a Nuestra Señora de Suyapa Patrona de la República de Honduras, y se escogió el 3 de febrero como el día de la cele-bración patronal. Abstinencia y ayuno durante la Cuaresma Hasta los 13 años: no hay ob-ligación de guardar ayuno ni abstinencia. Desde los 14 y hasta los 17 años: existe la obligación de guardar la abstinencia de carne todos los viernes. Desde los 18 hasta los 59 años: existe la obligación de absten-erse de carne todos los viernes y la obligación de ayunar durante el Miércoles de Ceniza y el Viernes Santos. Pero, para los enfer-mos, mujeres embarazadas o en etapa de lactancia, la norma de ayuno es opcional. Desde los 60 años de edad: desaparece la ob-ligación de ayunar, pero subsiste la obligación de abstenerse de la carne todos los viernes.
