OUR WEEKLY MISSIONWelcome Fr. Michael Petkosek! I am happy to share that we are receiving a newly ordained priest at St. Columbkille. The soon to be Father Michael Petkosek will be ordained a priest at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 18th at St. John’s Cathedral by Bishop Nelson. Father Michael was born on May 27, 1980 to parents Arthur and Anne and his home parish is St. Peter in Lorain. Father Michael received his B.A. from the University of Dayton and his M.A. and M. Div. from St. Mary Seminary here in Cleveland. Michael has been serving as a transitional deacon at Mary Queen of the Apostles in Brookpark. Father Michael’s first weekend with us will be on the Feast of Holy Trinity, June 15th-16th. I plan on attending Father Michael’s ordination as well as his first Mass of Thanksgiving on Sunday, May 19th at 12:00 p.m. at his home parish of St. Peter’s in Lorain. Please join me in welcoming Fr. Petkosek and come to his ordination Mass at the Cathedral on Saturday, May 18th at 10:00 a.m.! God is blessing our parish; God bless you Fr. Petkosek!Congratulations Deacon Christoper DePenti: Last weekend, Bishop Nelson Ordained our parishioner Deacon Chris DePenti to the Permanent Diaconate. Deacon Chris has been assigned to minister at St. Augustine Parish on West 14th Street in Cleveland. We are excited and happy for Deacon DePenti and look to welcome him back to St. Columbkille for a Mass of Thanksgiving on Sunday, May 19th at 10:30 a.m. Our parish is proud of Deacon DePenti and his yes to the Lord Jesus to serve as a deacon. Please join me in continuing to pray that more young people discern vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, marriage and the religious life!Beware of Email Hacking Scams: Last week you may have heard about the tragedy at St. Ambrose Parish in Brunswick where online hackers stole $1.75 million dollars during several wireless transfers of money to help fund their church renovation project. Allegedly, hacker’s set up fake email accounts and were able to deceive church personal into changing bank routing information. Just a reminder for your safety moving forward: hackers are constantly sending spam, setting up phishing scams and crafting social media messages asking for money and personal information. St. Columbkille will never ask for gift cards, money or sensitive personal information to be given to us by email. Should you ever receive what looks to be a suspicious email from me or anyone on staff at St. Columbkille asking for money to be sent electronically, gift cards or sensitive personal information, please call the parish office immediately to verify authenticity. Never forget, the Lord is with us, always!

PRAYER OPPORTUNITIES
WEEKLY SCRIPTURE PASSAGELet us pray together the verse from Paul's letter to the church at Corinth. As we pray, let us take great comfort in knowing that Christ has conquered death.
“God raised the Lord and will also raise us by his power.” 1 Corinthians 6:14
FATHER JAMIE’S HEALING HUMORA St. Columbkille family was on vacation in Montana. The mother drove her van past a church in a small town, and, pointing to it, told the children that it was St. Columbkille’s Church. “It must be a franchise,” said the 8-year-old son. “We’ve got one of those in Parma, too.”
(from MORE HOLY HUMOR, by Cal and Rose Samra, 1997)
Jesus tells us that He and the Father are one. Wherever the Son is, the Father is present. This is not a franchise, but a truth about God. We who believe are the sacrament of Christ’s presence in the world, in our words and in our deeds. This is not a franchise, but a truth about us.

OUR HEAVENLY MOTHER’S PILGRIM VIRGIN STATUE
On Mother’s Day, Jesus’ Mother and our Heavenly Mother comes to us in a special way. This weekend, the reservation book for the Saint Columbkille Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima will be present
at all the Masses. She invites each of us to bring her into our home. Each week, she is taken to a different parish family for their private devotion. The individual family names are taken from a reservation book which will be in the vestibule or from requests received throughout the year. Over the past year, our Lady has touched many families. Besides bringing peace to individual families, she has brought comfort to the sick and the dying. She grieves with us, cries with us, is happy with us, celebrates with us, and so much more, like any mother would do.If you miss the reservation book next weekend and would like your family to be added, call Larry Roth at (440) 885-0591. If special circumstances arise during the year and she is needed, please call. Our Heavenly Mother wants to bring her children to her Son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

HEARTLAND HOSPICEHeartland Hospice needs volunteers. There are numerous volunteer opportunities at Heartland:
o Friendly visits: Visit with patients in care facilities or their home.
o Relief sitting: Sit with a patient in their home for a care giver relief break.
o Visit with a buddy: Make visits with a friend for support and fun.
o Help with activities: Assist our patients with participating in crafts or Bingo.
o Special events: Attend special events with patients in facilities. You can participate by scooping ice cream, singing, or assisting patients at outside events.
o Concerts: Do you belong to a choir or musical group? Are you a DJ or like karaoke or play an instrument? You can entertain patients with your talents.
o Vigils: Sit vigil with patients who are actively dying. Vigil volunteers receive special training to help support the patient and their family during this critical time.
o We honor veterans: Veteran volunteers can be paired with hospice patients who are veterans to assist with their unique needs.
Heartland provides flexible volunteer training schedules. Our volunteers offer friendly visits and companionship. Our volunteers do not provide nursing or physical care to patients.Call the Volunteer Coordinator to discuss your interests: Krysta Falasca and/or Mary Seay at (216) 520-0765.
