Living the Gospel locally and around the world Martin Dicuangco had a life-changing encounter when

he visited Serra House, a residence run by St.

Augustine's Seminary for those discerning a priestly

vocation. He is now a third-year theology student at St.

Augustine’s. “I thank ShareLife for supporting St.

Augustine’s Seminary,” says Martin, “where young men

like myself, after experiencing the love of Christ, are

joyfully preparing for ordination to the priesthood.”

May 5 is ShareLife Sunday. Please give generously.

Lenten Series Divine Mercy is the Second Greatest Story Ever Told.

The final week will be Tuesday, 23 April and Thursday, 25 April leading up to Divine

Mercy Sunday. Please join us in the Guardian Angels parish hall.

Palm Sunday

Palms are used on Passion Sunday (Palm Sunday) to remember Jesus

the Messiah’s entry into Jerusalem. These branches join us with

those shouting, “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”

The Lord is leading us into God’s city of life, the New Jerusalem.

Holy Thursday Mass of the Lord’s Supper

Washing of the Feet, we will have the Mandatum (Service) which

traditionally has been the Washing of the Feet. The mandatum is meant to

be much more than re-enacting what Jesus did. It is more than fulfilling

His words “do what I have done to you.” To wash another’s feet is to get

very close to what makes us Church, to our Easter Triduum…to minister to

one another. This celebration will take place at Guardian Angels, St.

Columbkille and St. Francis of Assisi Churches.

Good Friday On Good Friday, we hear how Jesus obediently allowed himself to be

raised up on the cross. What took place on that cross, the execution

of God’s son, tied together heaven and earth. It provided a channel

for God’s life-giving Spirit to break into our lives and world, tearing

away the curtain separating God from people. We pray for all human

needs, for all those crucified in the world today. We venerate “the

wood of the cross on which hung the Savior of the world.” And we

wait quietly for what comes next.

Easter Vigil

A fire, a large candle and lots of readings: from dawn of creation to the dawn of Christ, the

new day. The candle is dated, blessed and praised -

“eucharisted over.” It is the “pillar of fire that glows to

the honor of God.” By its shared light, the light of the

saving Messiah, we can hear and understand better

God’s loving incursions into creation’s story. All is

retold and done this night in the light of Christ. Those to be initiated or received into the

Spirit-given “new creation” are washed and anointed in that same Holy Spirit, and

celebrate Eucharist with us fully, partaking in the divine life we all share.
