WE LOVE OUR PARENTS/GUARDIANS, BUT . . .With your child’s best interest in mind, we ask that you not visit or observe a program without prior approval from the Special Recreation staff. Our staff always welcomes your questions and feedback, but need to concentrate on the needs of the participants during program times. In addition, we have found that most individuals respond best to staff direction when parents are not present at programs. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding!

RATIO: 1 Adult to 10 Children

LATE START: (District 123 Only) Late start days are included in the cost if your child is already scheduled to be there on that morning. Children not already scheduled to attend on these days may do so for a fee. FLASH will provide a morning snack ONLY.

EARLY DISMISSAL: Early dismissal days are included in the cost if your child is already scheduled to be there on that afternoon. Children not already scheduled to attend on these days may do so for a fee. FLASH will provide an afternoon snack ONLY.

DAYS OFF & BREAK CAMPS: On most school days off & holiday breaks The FLASH Program offers a 6:45am to 6:30pm program. On these days we typically take the children on a field trip and spend the rest of the day at the Oak Lawn Park District Commu-nity Pavilion. Costs are separate from monthly tuition. FLASH will host 4 camps throughout the school year during extended breaks. These include: Fall Break, Winter Break, Spring Break & Summer Break Camps. Information for these days will be distributed in monthly newsletters and will be available on our website.

SNACKS: We provide healthy snacks to give kids the nutrients and energy they need to keep their bodies running strong and smart. Snack is served in the afternoon only. Parents are welcome to send children to the program with breakfast and additional snacks.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: Daily indoor and outdoor activities offer end-less ways for the children to get physical exercise, socialize and have fun!

HOMEWORK: Every day we will encourage the children to work on homework. Our staff will be on hand to assist the children, if needed.

T-SHIRT: FREE yearly t-shirt for all participants. Additional shirts are available for $5 per shirt.

S.O. Bocce (Age: 8 & up) Bocce is a fun and unique sport that combines skill and strategy. Athletes will improve hand-eye coordination, depth perception, and learn the rules of the game. Special Olympics Gymnastics (Age: 8 & up)Calling all gymnasts! It’s time to sharpen your skills and learn your rou-tines for Gymnastics. Athletes will have the option to learn new gym-nastics skills and routines or to train for competitions beginning in January-June. There will be an additional charge for competitions and uniforms if your athletes decided to compete. Special Recreation Gymnastics Open GymA full hour of crawling jumping, climbing, balancing & swinging. Kids love our Obstacle Course, Gymnastics Equipment, Preschool Play Area, Tumble Tramp, and Foam Pit. An adult over the age of 18 is required to stay with the participants during open gym time. Pirouettes Gymnas-tics staff will be on duty to provide safety guidelines for our gym. You must pay at the front desk and turn in the receipt to open gym instruc-tors for admittance to the gymnastics area for an open gym. Open gym time is great for children of all levels. This open gym time is special for kids with disabilities; to have as their own, please do not bring siblings without disabilities to open gym. Sensory Santa Experience (ALL ages) Santa welcomes children of all ages & abilities! This sensory-friendly Santa Claus experience is available to provide families individual, private time with Santa so that everyone truly has a magical time! Holiday Zoo Lights (Age: 10 & up) Let’s celebrate the most magical time of year as we take a journey to the Lincoln Park Zoo to see over 2 million sparkling lights, illuminat-ed tunnels and a water wall of lights that will wow guests, a larger-than-life teddy bear and Santa, live ice carving and cool crafts.
