Teams are required to wear color-coordinated shirts for their athletic contests

Scrimmage vests will be given out if two teams are wearing the same color

All students, faculty, and staff may participate in the Intramural program. A student is defined as a person enrolled in The College of New Jersey that is paying a student activity fee.

All part-time students and non-matriculated students who have been assessed an activity fee are eligible to participate.

Faculty/Staff members may organize their own teams. However, they may play on the same team with students as well.

Ex-Varsity players will be permitted to participate in intramurals under the following guidelines: An ex-Varsity player is defined as any

player who won a varsity letter In the A-league only 3 ex-Varsity players will

be allowed per team Players who participated in varsity sports

more than 5 years ago are not considered varsity athletes any more

Individuals who are participating in a collegiate sport for the current season will be ineligible to participate in that intramural sport

Teams using illegal players will be suspended!

PROTESTS INVOLVING JUDGEMENT CALLS BY AN OFFICIAL WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED!

A protest can only be made based on rule interpretation or player eligibility. All rules can be found on the Intramural webpage.

Protest must be put into writing and sent to Intramural Director and Assistant within 24 hours of the contest.

Participants who are ejected from their contest must meet with the Intramural Director and Assistant Coordinator before they are allowed to play in another contest

Penalty can range from sitting out halves/games and suspension of a specified date

Remember they are students too! They don’t deserved to be abused!

Judgment calls can’t be argued or protested!

Without student officials we wouldn’t be playing!

The rules for fouls, hand balls, and penalties are the same as outdoor soccer rules.

The game shall consist of (2) 18-minute periods (running clock). There is no overtime during the regular season.

Overtime: One five minute sudden death period. If not concluded, there will be a 3-person shoot-out. If still not concluded, teams will alternate shooters till a winner is declared. Only players on the floor during the conclusion of the game will be allowed to shoot.

Team shall consist of (1) goalkeeper and (5) field players each.

A team has a 5 minute grace period before forfeiting. A team may start with only 5 players.

Each team is limited to only 3 varsity players. A varsity player as defined in the TCNJ Rec Handbook. In Co-Rec, no more than 3 males can be on the field.

Any personal foul which prevented the scoring of a goal will result in a penalty kick. All other fouls will result in an indirect free kick from where the ball was at the time the foul was committed. All flagrant fouls will result in a one minute penalty in the penalty box.

The top of the bleachers, the pipes on the wall behind the goals, the ceiling, and behind the goals are considered out of bounds. The ball is put back into play by an indirect kick. A goal kick may not cross mid-field without touching the ground first.

The goal keeper shall handle the ball only within the goal area. The goal area is the three point circle on the court.

A goalie distribution may not cross mid-field without touching another player. Violations result in an indirect free kick from mid-field.

Defensive players must be 4 ft. away from the indirect kick. Only one warning will be given by the officials.

Hanging on the goals will result in a one minute penalty. Maliciously damaging goals will result in game suspension plus the player or team will be charged for the damage to replace or repair the goals.

-A player MAY NOT trip, kick, strike, hold, push, jump, or use unnecessary roughness at an opponent.

-The referee may suspend any player or players from the game for unsportsmanlike conduct or unnecessary roughness.

-An indirect free kick shall be awarded at the spot if the foul occurs outside the penalty area.

-A direct free kick shall be awarded if the foul is made by the attacking team inside the penalty areas.

-A penalty kick shall be awarded to the opponents if the foul is made by the defensive team within their own penalty area.

The Intramural Department will email and text team captains by 4pm via IMLeagues.com of any cancellations. Games will be rescheduled on a time-permitting basis.
