2011 Rules

• No major changes in rules from 2010• Still using a two referee system– Teams do NOT need to provide linesmen

because referees should be following the play

Yellow and Red Cards

• Yellow card serves as a warning of an action that needs to cease

• Two yellow cards will result in a red card• Red card may be issued without prior yellow if

violation is severe enough• Red card results in that player leaving the

game and his/her team playing one player down

• Red cards will be reported to Director of IM for consideration of next game suspension as well

Key Rules and Regulations to Highlight

• Soccer cleats must be worn, no screw in football or baseball cleats

• Pushing will be called when the referee sees an extension of the arm

• A high kick near any player will result in an indirect kick and a yellow card

Handling• Handling the ball involves a deliberate act

of a player making contact with the ball with his hand or arm.

Reminders• Any player who is not a captain will not

direct a comment to a ref about a play• Rescheduling games is your

responsibility– Switch with another already

scheduled game– Doubtful that there will be another

time slot– IM Supervisors are the final authority

Leagues and Divisions• Men’s- 4 divisions of were randomized with

5 teams each– Reg season- 4 games– Playoffs- top 2 teams from each division

• Women’s- 4 teams total– Reg season- 3 games, 1 exhibition game in

beginning (first game played does not go toward record)

– Playoffs- all teams are in, seeding determined by record

To Do Before 1st Game• Make sure all team member

requests are accepted• Check free agent pool– Currently 3 men and 2 women

looking for a team… pick ‘em up!• Look for conflicts in the schedule-

ask of team members as well
