We have set goals for our children and our aim is to have the following learning outcomes achieved by children by the end of each year they are at school. We realise that some children will be able to remember and use far more than these words, but we would appreciate your help at home so that all children have reached a satisfactory level of spelling before they leave Tapanui School at the end of Year 6.
Learning Outcomes End of:• Year 1 Be able to recognise a list of 30 high frequency words
and spell many of these incidentally
• Year 2 Spell-Write Essential Lists 1 [10 words], 2 [20 words], 3 [30 words] and 4 [50 words] which make up 60%
of words used most often in writing
• Year 3 Spell Write Essential Lists 5 [50 words] and 6 [70 words] 10% of writing
