Explore Home WinemakingThursday, March 18, 7-9 pm; $29Discover the tricks to making great wine at home for yourself or to give as a fabulous gift! Learn the step-by-step process to make wine from fresh fruits, fruit juices and kit wines from around the world, as well as bottling and labeling techniques. Optional wine starter kits are available for purchase ($34) from instructor. Standard First Aid With Adult, Child and Infant CPRWednesdays, January 20 and 27; 9 am - 1 pm; $95Using lectures, video, and skills practice to cover rescue breathing, choking, and CPR for adults, children and infants. Class combines the Infant/Child CPR course and the Standard First Aid course. Adult, Infant, Child CPR certificate and a First Aid certificate upon completion.

Adult CPRWednesday, January 20; 9 am-1 pm ORSaturday, February 27; 8:30 am-12:30 pm, or 12:45-4:45 pm, or 5-9 pm; $55Develop the skills needed to respond correctly to life-threatening respiratory or cardiac emergencies in adults or children 12 years or older. Includes: CPR, and first aid for choking emergencies. American Red Cross Adult CPR certificate valid for 1 year upon completion.

Adult CPR plus AED ClassSaturday, February 27; 5:00-9:30 pm; $65 Learn all the skills of the Adult CPR course plus how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED). American Red Cross Adult CPR/AED certificate upon completion.

CPR and First Aid for DogsSunday, February 28, NooN-3pm, OR 3:15-6:15pm; $55Topics include symptoms and care for common ailments and emergencies; instructions for creating a pet first aid kit, giving medications and recognizing emergencies; tips on maintaining your pet’s health; and first aid guidance on caring for many canine health conditions.

ART CLASSESPainting MarathonWednesday, Jan 6, 10am-3pm ORSaturday, Feb 20, 10am-3pm; $35Paint from life/pictures/imagination. Create 4-6 small paintings. BABYSITTER TRAININGSaturday, Jan 9, 9am-4:30pm; $70The National Babysitter’s Training certification course prepares youth ages 11-15 to safely and responsibly care for themselves and/or other children in the absence of parents or guardians. Youth New Year Calendars Grade 1-5, Wed, Dec, 9 & 16; 4:30pm-6:30pm; $55Celebrate the New Year by creating a keepsake calendar. Using photos, found images, collage, drawing, painting, and printmaking techniques design a calendar.

Handmade Greeting Cards – Family Workshop Ages 5+, Sat, Dec, 12; 9:30-11:30am,; $35 per child w/free adultCreate printed cards with matching envelopes. Use printmaking, stamping, painting, drawing, and collage techniques to create decorative and fun holiday cards.

Winter WearGrades 1-5, Mon, Jan 4, 4:30-6:30pm; $36Create a handmade scarf, headband or hat out of fleece and other fiber materials. Projects will be colorful, functional, wonderfully warm and totally unique!

Handmade Winter Journals Grades 1-5, Thurs, Jan 7, 4:30-6:30pm; $29Create two different kinds of handmade books using very different style structures. Using decorative papers, book board, linen thread, and other creative materials.

Teen Jewelry MakingThurs, Jan 14, 21, & 28, 4:30-6pm; $72Create one-of-a-kind handmade jewelry using colored linen threads, beads, decoupage, metal findings, Shrinky-Dinks and found materials. Handmade beads, barrettes, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, and pendants are just a few of the possible creations.

Drawing with Dr SeussAges 5-7, Mon, Jan 25, 4:30-6pm; $28Using the many stories and imaginative illustrations of Dr Seuss as inspiration, students will create their own 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional creative characters and extraordinary environments. A great mixed-media class for kids who love to work and experiment with many different drawing materials.

Where the Wild Things Are Ages 5-7, Mon, Feb 1, 4:30-6pm; $28Read, discuss and use the fantastically creative book Where the Wild Things Are as inspiration for your own ‘wild works of art’. Various mixed media 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional masks will be created!

A Pirate’s TreasureAges 5-7, Thurs, Feb 4, 4:30-6pm; $38Treasure boxes, jewels and gems, pirate’s boats and scary sea creatures are just a few of the ideas that children can come up with in this creative class. Basic pinch, slab, and coil handbuilding techniques will be covered and projects painted and glazed. Because of the bisque and glaze firing process, some projects will need to be picked up 2-3 weeks after the class.

Happy Valentine’s DayGrades 1-5, Thurs, Feb 11, 4:30-6:30pm $28Make creative cards and books designed and decorated by you! Bring any scrapbook supplies, collagematerials, photographs and decorative objects you can think of to embellish and personalize your cards and books. Printmaking, painting, drawing and collage techniques will be covered. Various card formats and book structures will be taught with time for your imagination .

Fabulous FashionistasGrades 1-6, Mon’s, Feb 8, 15, & 22, 4:30-6pm; $69Are you the ‘fashionista’ in your group of friends? Are you someone who likes to draw and design? Use your talents to create your own handbag, fashion T-shirts and accessories. Please bring 3 graphic t-shirts to class on the first day.

Harry PotterGrades 1-6; Thurs, Feb 18,, 4:30-6:30pm; $48Do you love the fantastic world of Harry Potter? In this kids ceramic class we will create mythical wizards, cauldrons, and creepy castles. Because of the bisque and glaze firing process, some projects will need to be picked up 2-3 weeks after the class.

Build Your Own Portfolio: Teen ClassAges 13-18, Thurs, March 4, 11 & 18, 4:30-6:30pm $92 Are you college bound for art school and not sure how to prepare your portfolio, or are you a student that wants to get a head start on their

portfolio before graduating high school? In this class, students will find out what colleges are looking for

and complete class projects that build a stronger portfolio after determining

what is needed. Observational drawing as well as other painting and drawing techniques may be covered. By the end of the session, students will not only have a stronger portfolio but also gain confidence in presenting their portfolio. This course is open to all visual art students. Students taking this course are encouraged to keep a sketchbook and will need to bring their current

portfolio or a sampling of their work to their first day of class.

Adult Beginning Digital Photography ClassMon’s, Jan 11 - Feb 8, 5 sessions, 9-11am; $55We will learn the basics of choosing, buying, using camera settings, downloading, and printing images with your digital camera. Join us for this interactive demo class and gain confidence about your picture taking skills.

Who Reads the Fine Print of Insurance Policies?Thursday, December 3, 10:30-11:30amTerry Roeser will conduct an informative exploration of insurance issues and help define what is and is not covered under auto insurance and property insurance and special coverage that might be helpful. She will discuss general insurance questions. What can you do as the consumer before making a claim to make certain you have the right coverage will be covered. Terry is a licensed insurance agent of 35 years and an active community member in the Southshore community.

Create a Personal Holiday WreathMonday, December 7, 11am-12:30pm; $10Join Karen Frazier to create your own wreath with permanent greens and flowers. Bring a wire cutter and a snub nose plier to the class. Karen’s many years of experience in creative floral designs will guide you in creating a lovely wreath for your home! The permanent greens and flowers will be provided. If you have a trinket or small decoration of your own to add to your personal wreath…bring them along!

Simple ExercisesThursday, December 10, 10:30am; FreeA Ridgeview Medical Physical Therapist presents an educational program focused on simple exercises to maintain older adults mobility and flexibility!

Cooking for 1 or 2Friday, December 11, 11am-1 pm; $25If cooking for one or two no longer is interesting? Join Chef Mary Woell as she prepares simple and easy meals. Prepare mini meatloaves, salmon in parchment paper, pan roasted chicken and pork chops with Balsamic Vinegar Glaze! We’ll accompany our tasting with simple salad and side dish ideas.

Holiday LuncheonTuesday, December 15, 11am; $4 Senior Partner members/$6 othersEnjoy a festive holiday luncheon. Entertainment by Rhythmic Feet tap dance troop and local authors Nancy Steinke and Stephanie Larsen signing their recent book, Historical Lake Minnetonka.

You’ll be pleased at the selection and proud to send them. They are made by the Card Crafters. This month there are packets of 10 or 12 new Christmas cards available for $1.00/ packet!

If you ride the Dial A Ride bus to the Center, the SSSP will pay your ticket home on the Dial A Ride bus. Call Dial A Ride early at 763-235-2222 to schedule your ride.
