The nominations for this years European Hotel Design Awards have been announced, and the final phase of judging is now under way. Over 150

entries were received in total. Following the first round of voting in June, the twenty-strong panel of judges representing leading hotel companies, architectural practices and interior design firms, as well as respected consultants, journalists, and suppliers are jetting around Europe throughout September and October to visit the shortlisted hotels (see opposite page). Their findings will be presented to their fellow judges at the final judging day on October 31st.

By visiting every project that has reached the final nomination stage, the tireless efforts of the judges ensure that the selection process for these awards is rigorous, robust and fair, says Matt Turner, Editor of Sleeper Magazine, the official organiser of the European Hotel Design Awards. In addition to the main Architecture and Interior Design categories, separate judging sessions are

held for the Tomorrows Hotel Award, sponsored by Arup, and Sleep ReardonSmith Student Award, for which this years brief is to create a masterplan for a new luxury hotel and residential marina development on the Southern Adriatic coast.

The winners of all categories will be announced at the glittering awards ceremony taking place on Tuesday 19th November at the Park Plaza, Westminster Bridge, London.

The ceremony will also see the recipient of this years Outstanding Contribution award honoured by the 800+ leading hotel design professionals from across Europe who attend the awards. Celebrated hotelier Ian Schrager widely recognised as the founder of the boutique hotel movement will receive this prestigious award at the 2013 European Hotel Design Awards ceremony, prior to his keynote appearance at the Sleep Event conference on Wednesday 20 November.

The washbasins can be perfectly combined with the Cult tap fittings, which are characterised by their successful design with balanced forms, perfect proportions and consistent symmetry.

The innovative urinal with its cartridge ViChange is a functional highlight, allowing the siphon to be changed without the urinal having to be removed from the wall. There is also the option of fitting the urinal with the urinal flush proDetect, which automatically detects users, triggering the flush programme after use.

Also, Architectura presents a WC equipped with the innovative DirectFlush system, which sets new hygiene standards. The system needs no flush rim and has a water con-sumption of only 3 or 4.5 litres, maintaining nonetheless high flushing efficiency. As the open rim is completely glazed the WC can be particularly quickly, easily and asepti-cally cleaned. It is thus ideal for use in places with the most stringent of hygiene re-quirements, such as hospitals or busy public buildings, but also in private homes.
