• Open to all students in the Faculty two categories (Undergraduate and Postgraduate)

Dedicated modules in key subject areas
• BIO 385: Innovation-led Entrepreneurship– provides students with the
opportunity to develop enterprise competences and transferable skills using lectures, case studies, tutorials and attendance at a relevant public engagement or professional body events. Includes a group new venture planning project.
• EGM 312: Enterprise Business and Employability– Helps students understand how and how
they can lead business exploitation of Science through entrepreneurial activity.
– Includes a range of environmental case studies and guest lectures (e.g. Progen UK, Causeway Enterprise Agency and the Science Shop) – also includes a group business idea project.

Cookstown High Continued Success!• Met recycling officers from 8 district councils and presented our App
concept• Entered Junior Dragons' Den and reached the National finals• Winners of the Eircom Junior Spiders award, having met and received
commendation from Bill Liao, some of the team would now even like to mentor at a CoderDoJo events
• Environment Minister Alex Attwood found out first-hand on a trip to Stormont about their design which promotes and develops users' knowledge of recycling
• The team were selected as NI young innovators by the Belfast Science Park and got the chance to pitch their App concept to Prince Andrew, the Duke of York at the launch of the Museum of Here and Now, at the Titanic Building

Students from Interactive Media Arts (Media, Film and Journalism)
Working with the Belfast Giants ice hockey team students developed a programme to help teach children about cultural diversity and nutrition.
Working with Belfast Visitor and Convention Bureau, the winning student team produced a portfolio of photographs, merchandise and an interactive map offering a modern perspective of Belfast’s iconic landmarks, old and new.

School of Media, Film and Journalism
Stephen Shaw from Big Motive joined the School to mentor students in turning their enterprising dreams into reality. Big Motive is one of the most successful digital creative agencies in the UK, having created world-class user experiences for the web, mobile and connected TV, and delivered innovative R&D projects for Channel 4, BBC and Samsung.
Pitching Competition WinnersStacey Wright and Zoe Gage (Interactive Media Arts) for an image recognition app that allows you to snap fashion items that someone is wearing, identify where the item of clothing is from, and purchase it directly. Currently supported by MeWe360 incubation agency.

[art]s Dare to be Digital FinalistsElijah Blyth and Michael Sheridan (School of Computing and Intelligent Systems) and
Mark Quinn and Niall Carlin (School of Creative Arts)
Went head to head with eleven other teams from the Republic of Ireland, England, Scotland, China and India to compete for the BAFTA ‘Ones to Watch’ Games Award finals.
The team spent their summer based in Trinity College Dublin developing their video game ‘The Creeping Dark’ on Emergent Technologies Gamebryo, a world class games development engine, before moving to Edinburgh in August for the Dare to be Digital final.
[art]s Allingham Arts Festival
School of Creative Arts
Year 3 students from the BDes (Hons) in Design for Creative Practice and the BSc (Hons) in Creative Computing exhibited moving image design responses to William Allingham`s poetry, offering innovative design stories that portrayed their interpretation of Allingham`s written word, using their chosen discipline (illustration/ graphic design/ 3D animation and moving image).
As a result of the exhibition four students and two members of staff have been commissioned to produce a one-off piece for the proposed permanent Allingham Exhibition, to be housed at the Abbey Centre.
[art]s ICE (Innovation and Creative Enterprise) module School of Creative Arts
ICE (Innovation and Creative Enterprise) module for final year BDes Hons Design and Communication and BA Hons Creative Technologies students, supported by Digital Derry, InvestNI and Derry City Council, will award course credits to student entrepreneurs.
Students electing to take the module will be provided with both legal and financial support from the University's Office of Innovation. They will also take part in a range of workshops and seminars delivered by local entrepreneurs and organised by Digital Derry, who have partnered with the University to develop the programme.
Each student will get the chance to pitch their ideas for inclusion in a privately-backed business development programme being developed by Digital Derry.

eTourism – Student EnterpriseThe new business concept must have a digital focus and students design a website and social media presence which they demonstrate in addition to pitching their concept to the judging panel.

This fosters and develops creativity and innovation with regard to applying digital knowledge and skills to the tourism and leisure industry.
