• SF6 is a human-made gas emitted from: • electrical transmission and distribution Sulfur equipment

Hexafluoride • manufacture of electronics / semiconductors

• production of magnesium

• SF6 lasts ~3,200 years in the atmosphere • SF6 has a high global warming potential

(GWP) compared to CO2 over 100-year time scale:

• 1 pound of SF6 = 11.4 tons of CO2 GWP

• SF6 GWP = 22,800a times CO2
