By sophomore year, the question begins raining down on most high school students: what colleges are you looking at? It’s no secret that choosing a college can be a very complicated, confusing and stressful process, and there are many factors to weigh while preparing to make a decision. One key oppor- tunity that we find extremely important in this decision- making process is such: take advantage of visiting as many campuses as possible! The good news? TRIO Upward Bound offers 4 days of campus visits, with each day consisting of touring two different post- secondary schools. We believe it is extremely important to check out a variety of schools, get a feel for their distances from home, and learn more about what they have to offer academically. Every year we choose a handful of private and state 4-year colleges and universities, along with 2-year com- munity colleges, to visit. Every school gives us a campus tour of course, but also has an admission representative speak about scholarship information, class size, most popular ma- jors, student clubs and activities, sports, internships, and much more. Unless things have recently changed, South Sioux City and Sioux City School Districts allow juniors and seniors to miss potentially 2 days of school each year for campus visits, as most postsecondary institutions do not offer them over the weekends. Visiting a variety of campuses not only helps stu- dents learn what they need in a school, but also to recognize what they are not looking for, which helps guide students when making their final decision. So take advantage of what we are offering you, and sign up for Upward Bound’s campus visits! Remember that you and your parents are responsible for informing school of your absence, and we will also contact them to confirm that you are attending a campus visit with us. Of course, if you have a test or project due on any of our campus visit days, remember that your cur- rent classes always come first. Hope to see you in the vans! By sophomore year, the question begins raining down on most

high school students: what colleges are you looking at? It’s no

secret that choosing a college can be a very complicated,

confusing and stressful process, and there are many factors

to weigh while preparing to make a decision. One key oppor-

tunity that we find extremely important in this decision-

making process is such: take advantage of visiting as many

campuses as possible!

The good news? TRIO Upward Bound offers 4 days of campus

visits, with each day consisting of touring two different post-

secondary schools. We believe it is extremely important to

check out a variety of schools, get a feel for their distances

from home, and learn more about what they have to offer

academically. Every year we choose a handful of private and

state 4-year colleges and universities, along with 2-year com-

munity colleges, to visit. Every school gives us a campus tour

of course, but also has an admission representative speak

about scholarship information, class size, most popular ma-

jors, student clubs and activities, sports, internships, and

much more. Unless things have recently changed, South Sioux

City and Sioux City School Districts allow juniors and seniors to

miss potentially 2 days of school each year for campus visits,

as most postsecondary institutions do not offer them over the

weekends. Visiting a variety of campuses not only helps stu-

dents learn what they need in a school, but also to recognize

what they are not looking for, which helps guide students when

making their final decision.

So take advantage of what we are offering you, and sign up for

Upward Bound’s campus visits! Remember that you and your

parents are responsible for informing school of your absence,

and we will also contact them to confirm that you are attending

a campus visit with us. Of course, if you have a test or project

due on any of our campus visit days, remember that your cur-

rent classes always come first. Hope to see you in the vans!
