Happy Birthday to

All those born in September!

September Birthdays In astrology, Virgo’s Virgins are those born between September 1–22. Virgos are one of the most careful signs of the zodiac. They pay attention to detail, analyze problems, and plan so as to leave nothing to chance. These amazing listeners give excellent advice. Those born from September 23–30 balance the scales of Libra. Libras strive for balance, avoid conflict, and desire fairness for everyone. To achieve this, they are sociable, strategic, charming, and diplomatic.

Home Updates A Laundry Process Review was initiated in June 2019 and is ongoing. The goal is to alleviate the pressure to complete the work of laundering 160 residents clothes and linen in short time frames and enhance the laundering processes which will result in the “right” laundry getting back to the “right” resident. Laboratory Services – As part of the Home’s ongoing efforts to continuously improve, the Home recently met with Life Labs, the company that supports laboratory services. Some process changes and changes in personnel have been made. Survery Contruction- Please note starting September 9th, there will be contractors at the home to remove and install flooring in the 3rd Floor Servery.

Surveys Family Quality of Life Surveys – The opinions of our residents families is important to us. Survey’s for families to complete will be offered prior to Care Conferences using an ipad (or paper copy/postage stamped envelope). Care Conferences are held six (6) weeks following admission and annually for residents/families. Survey results will be posted on the Quality Council, Resident/ Family Council bulletin boards and shared in meetings. It is important to note that the Home has limited resources, so the feedback and recommendations will be prioritized. These priorities will be established through a consultative process with the Management Team, Quality Council, Resident Council and Family Council. Resident Survey’s – Residents are encouraged to complete survey’s to share their feedback about the Home. The results of the survey assist the Home to make improvements that benefit our residents/families.

Message from the Executive Director

A Message from the Chaplain… We often speak of the month of September as the end of summer. However, I like to remind myself that according to the calendar, we still have 3 more weeks of summer before the Fall Equinox. I see those 3 weeks as a gift, and I have to remind myself that I have them, when the world is telling me I don't. I love the sunshine, and I like to squeeze every drop out of summer. Don't get me wrong, I love the Fall too with all the changing leaves, and beautiful colour... I just don't like to rush things. I am excited about our 7 church services we have planned for you in the month of September. Heather Walton is returning after taking the month of August off. Katie Nightengale is returning after a one-year sabbatical. Rev. Anne is returning after being off in the month of August, and the Dickerts are returning after being away this summer. It's exciting to have old friends return, and it's really exciting to have new friends come for the first time. Gateway Church is sending two of their young worship leaders from the Gateway Youth Band. Vanessa & Breanna will lead us in worship later in the month. We're grateful to our community and local ministers for how they give of their time to come and minister to us, and encourage us in our faith journey. Sunday September 1st: -Non-denominational service led by Heather Walton - United Church Minister Sunday September 8th: -Non-denominational service led by Katie Nightengale - Non-denominational Minister Tuesday September 10th: -Catholic Mass led by Eucharistic Minister Mike Minert Sunday September 15th: -Classical Music Performance and Scripture Readings by Adrian & Ruth Wright Wednesday September 18th: -Anglican Communion Service by Rev. Anne Jaikaran Sunday September 22nd: -Non-denominational service led by Don & Patty Dickert - Pentecostal Chaplains, with music by Bonnie & Ruth from Gateway Church Sunday September 29th: -Non-denominational service led by Madison Olson This month we will continue to have Rosary Group twice a week, and Devotions on Thursday afternoons. I trust you will be encouraged by these opportunities. I encourage you to come out and be part of your community. You are loved and valuable. I trust you will be encouraged, and your presence is an encouragement to others. Thank-you for allowing me to journey alongside you. Yours, Ellen Bueso, Chaplain Interfaith Spiritual Care
