Indigo Healing Ministry Formal Shrine, Lake Junaluska, NC, USA

Chartered 20 March, Year 7 Aquarius Shrine Head Rev. Sheree Dawn

Shrine Sigil

This shrine is dedicated to spiritual healing through the loving power of the Goddess. We draw upon the healing energies and wisdom of Brigid, Airmeith, Isis, Freya and the Mother Mary to help facilitate the healing of the body, mind, and spirit. The five Goddesses represent the five points of the pentacle and the five elements. We believe that the healing energy of the Goddesses compliments and supports traditional medicine and works on a level that is inaccessible to modern technology.

You may join the group or contact the moderator with your healing request.

For more information on the Shrine and to join the egroup go here: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/indigo-healing-ministry/ Contact email: [email protected]

Today’s Date in the Wheel of the Year

17 September

Today’s Highlights:

Month of Hethara, ancient Egypt - corresponds roughly with this date on the

Gregorian calendar. Netjer of this month – Het-Hert (Hathor).

Festival of Sobek, God of crocodiles, ancient Egypt

Sobek, a son of Neith (goddess of war and wisdom), is a crocodile-headed deity with a man’s body and a feathered crown, rarely seen as a full crocodile (which was also used as the representation of Apep). In his hands he carries a was sceptre and the ankh sign of life. He protects the pharaoh from all harm, especially evil magic. Sobek created the Nile, is a God of fertility and rebirth, and also symbolises strength of the ruler of Egypt. His cult was centred in Kom Ombo, Thebes and El Faiyûm, but Sobek was worshipped throughout Egypt.

Greater Eleusinian Mysteries, Ancient Greece (Sep 10 - 19)

Eighth day: the secret rites in the Telesterion finish and the feast, Pannychis, begins. Second Initiation: Perhaps a repeat for those who had not fully grasped the Mysteries the first time through, or a confirmation of what had been realized at that time. The ritual took place in caves.

The Telesterion

The eighth day was called the Second Initiation, with the rites taking place in caves and in the Telesterion, designed by Ictinos in the 5th Century BCE. This building was a large initiation hall capable of holding thousands of worshippers. There the initiates were shown Demeter’s hiera (sacred relics) that were housed in the interior chamber known as the Anaktoron (‘Palace’; a small stone building which only the hierophantes could enter), while the priestesses revealed their oracles of the holy night (probably via a fire that represented the possibility of life after death). This was the most arcane part of the Eleusinian Mysteries, with those who had been initiated forbidden ever to speak of the events that had taken place in the Telesterion

This and much more can be found in our new group

We will be posting information here in the Correllian Herald on Mondays and Thursdays for that date. For daily and monthly information on Gods, Goddesses and Celebrations the World over, please feel free to join the group. If you have anything to add to the files they are welcome, too! We look forward to seeing you there!

Veterinary Notes. - A is for Animal Rev Mehitabel (Sue Bellworthy BVSc MRCVS)

With the new Animal Welfare Bill making its way through the UK Parliament, it seems a good time to talk about the issues associated with owning an animal. Any animal requires an enormous amount of commitment from the owner. It is the owner’s choice to obtain the animal and they must therefore put the animal’s considerations above their own since the animal has no choice in the matter. The prospective owner must consider the requirements of the animal in terms of accommodation, exercise, food and companionship, and holiday arrangements as well as both routine (food, routine veterinary care) and unexpected (illness/accident) veterinary care. Always take time to match the choice of animal to your lifestyle and experience. The new welfare bill will recommend that all animals have the company of their own species and I am especially pleased that this is included. Dogs – adult or puppy? – the latter will need training, but the former may come with behavioral problems if a rescue animal. Bitch or dog? – the former will need spaying and the latter may be prone to roaming or fighting if left uncastrated. Breed – consider the function of the breed and whether there are children in the house. Terriers are bred to snap at the heels of cattle; collies are bred to round up and nip sheep, hounds have a tendency to run off and disappear for hours, cross-breeds show a mixture of tendencies – these traits are inbred and near impossible to change. Coat – consider the length of the coat and whether it needs regular clipping (poodles and terriers need clipping approximately every 6 weeks). Long coats will need a lot of grooming. Size – do you want a portable dog or a large one? Breed predispositions – some breeds have a tendency to certain illnesses and in some screening of pups and breeding stock is routine e.g. hip and eye problems in labradors. When buying a puppy always make sure you can see the pups with the dam – and avoid puppy farm puppies as these often come with hereditary problems. Finally I would advise breeding which in reality is very hard work, messy, expensive and you may find yourself reluctant to part with the puppies. Before choosing a breed it is worth paying a visit to a dog show, “Discover Dogs” or similar events and talk to owners about their animals. Cats – pedigree or moggy? – the choice is yours but longhairs will need a lot of grooming. Indoor or out – again, the choice is yours. All cats should be brought in at dusk until morning as most road accidents happen over night. I strongly recommend having more than one cat. They appreciate the company of another within their own home (feral cats form colonies) and it is wonderful to watch a group of cats interacting, playing and sleeping together. Sex – again your choice but neutering of all is recommended for the animal’s well being as well as to avoid an excess of homeless kittens. The issues of cost are similar to dogs. “Children’s pets” – rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters etc. In many ways these are not suitable for children. They require a lot of care that must be overseen by an adult to ensure the animal is not neglected and they aren’t as amenable to children’s inadvertently rough play as larger animals and tend to nip and/or scratch. Again, rabbits, guinea pigs and others all need the company of others of their species. Exotic pets – lizards, snakes etc. These require very specialist living conditions in expensive tanks and vivariums. Some need to be fed live food, or freshly killed food (are you prepared to feed live mice or kill them yourself?). Many are reluctant to eat and may even need tube feeding for a period. Veterinary care is usually at specialist centres and is frequently expensive. If you are interested in these animals spend some time with experienced owners and breeders to learn more about them before buying.

The Order of Web Weavers Crystal Web Mapping Project The Order of the Web Weavers has been working diligently on mapping the Crystal Web. If any of you have a crystal that you have added or removed from the Crystal Web contact us to ensure are records up to date and accurate. The information we need in order to best catalog your crystal/s is the following. Your Craft Name and E-mail Address along with your City, State, Country, Latitude, and Longitude. Sent to the following e-mail address: [email protected] Please include the above information, if you have removed your crystal from the Crystal Web along with ‘Remove’ in the subject line. If you have added several crystals then we would need a separate entry for each crystal, unless they are located together. If they are located together then please include how many crystals are at that location. We are excited about this project and hope that you will be too. Once the crystals have been properly cataloged we can then begin placing them on the map program. This will give us a good visualization on the Crystal Web. Thank you in advance for your participation in this wonderful project. Bright Blessings, The Order of Web Weavers
