Rate us on Yelp!
It can be difficult to find the right studio to join, and not everyone has a friend who can help them decide which studio is best for their needs.
Rate us on Yelp and tell everyone what you think about SMA! You might just help someone find their new passion.

Pal JangTAE GEUK 8 —KON/Earth
Kon means earth, and the associated trigram (three broken lines) is um/yin. Earth provides us with birth, and sustains is in life, and all lives must return to where they begin - earth. Yet the circle of life also provides renewal and rebirth.
Thus our status as colored belts begins with Yang, and ends with Yin, only for us to be reborn as Black Belts - a new morning, a new day, a new season, a new challenge. Upon finishing our basic training we face new challenges and are beginners once more, evolving from strong, proud and dignified Gups into humble, honest and eager Dans.
In performing Tae Geuk Pal Jang we must demonstrate everything that we have learned to date: twisting, turning power; controlled breathing; relaxed internal energy; strong, confident kihaps; fluid movement; bodily control; balance and coordination. Pal Jang should be grand and dramatic.

Santa Clara Art & Wine Festival
We will once again be performing a TKD
demonstration at this year's Santa Clara Art & Wine
Festival at the Meadow Stage!
The demo will be three parts, and I would like to
invite YOU to help us with it. We want our most
excited and dedicated students to come out and
represent Tae Kwon Do! I hope you can join us.
You will need to be available for:
* 2 Practices: 7:30-8 PM, Wed 9/9 and 9/16.
* The demo! 10 - 11:30 AM on Sun 9/20
If you are interested, please contact Mr. Andrew
at [email protected]! Spots in the demo
are limited, so a quick response is preferable.
If you are not in the demo, you can still show
support by attending the Meadow Stage on Sunday
for the show!

This Month
New After School Activity Program
Mr. Hurst has been working very hard all summer
to bring a new after school program about.
Adventure Kids is the newest program in the area,
taking students to various daily activities each day.
This program is a great, and convenient way to
keep your children active, happy, and exploring the
outdoors through various activities. Since school
began, a little over a week ago, Adventure Kids has
taken it’s explorers to parks, pools, rock climbing,
bowling, and obstacle course days.
For more information please visit the website,
adventurekidsprogram.com, or contact Mr. Hurst!
Studio Improvements
You may have noticed some upgrades recently,
and more will be coming throughout the month! I’m
also working on a new version of our website,
scheduled for completion this winter.
We’ve changed the layout of the studio, and are
updating some of our furniture. In addition to new
chairs, we’ll also be adding a water cooler
Lastly, we will be doing a late spring cleaning of
the studio to get a nice deep clean throughout.

as best as we can, but changes may be necessary.

Why was school easier for cave people?
Practice, Practice, Practice.Being in front of a crowd can make you nervous. That is why it is so important to practice your techniques leading up to testing.
It is not enough to have everything memorized, you want to feel comfortable. When you are comfortable with your form, you can focus on strength and power. The same goes for your kicks and one steps!
Remember that everyone here is there to support you, and it is okay to be nervous. Just do your best, and smile!

Ali ChalakniaAli is an excellent example for the Tiny Tigers class. He’s quick to line up, and stays focused in groups.
Because of this (and his hard work) he’s become very talented. His running speed kicks are a super fast specialty!
