Teaching Schedule

Keumgang [meaning diamond] also connotates the

words "hardness" and "ponder." The Keumgang

Mountain on the Korean peninsula is regarded as the

center of national spirit, and the "Keumgang

Yeoksa" [Keumgang warrior] as named by Buddha

(who represents the mightiest warrior). This is the

background of denominating this poomsae. New

techniques introduced in Keumgang, and the

poomsae line [pattern] symbolizes a mountain

displayed by a Chinese letter. The movement should

be powerful and well balanced so as to befit the

black belt's dignity.

Upcoming Events

Mr. Hurst Out For December

As some of you may know, Mr. Hurst has been

struggling with chronic throat pain for the last 3

years. Despite the situation, he’s found ways to

teach (even, for a time, teaching with the aid of a

sign language translator to avoid speaking). His

condition is caused by an artery near the brain stem

pushing up against nerves.

Mr. Hurst will be undergoing surgery on Nov 30th

to correct the problem, and as a result will be out

for the entirety of December. In the new year, he

hopes to be back to teaching without needing to

hold back! Please contact other instructors for all

studio needs in the meantime, and wish him luck!

Rock Climbing Event

is out on Veteran’s Day (Nov 11th)? Join Mr. Hurst’s

new program to go on a rock climbing event!
