INSURANCE INNOVATION EXPERTISE & SUPPORTaustralia’s leading insurance brokerage

DO WHAT YOU DO SO WELL, THAT THEY WILL WANT TO SEE IT AGAIN AND BRING THEIR FRIENDS TOO

it’s the Scott Winton approach to business

It’s about personalised service, genuine commitment and being there 24/7. It’s about tailored solutions, thinking outside the box and family values. Being big enough to offer our clients the expertise of a large organisation but small enough to show we care. It’s about knowing our clients so well, that we tell them what they need, before they realise it themselves. It’s about providing them with the peace of mind to go about their daily business, knowing we’ve got their backs - no matter what. It’s about knowing that if we don’t take care of our clients needs – someone else will. It’s about giving back to the community and to those in need. It’s also about giving that little bit extra. And it’s that little bit extra that has earned us our reputation, and enabled us to achieve phenomenal growth while still maintaining exceptional client retention. It’s also that little bit extra that has earned us numerous accolades and made Scott Winton the success it is today.

SPECIALIST INDUSTRIES INSURANCEDo you have an unusual asset or operate in a unique market? If most insurers give you the ‘No I’m sorry we can’t help you’ answer, Scott Winton will design a program to cater for your special needs.

PUBLIC & PRODUCT LIABILITY INSURANCEThis type of insurance is an essential part of any insurance portfolio. An injury to a third party could cost millions and have disastrous consequences for your business. Scott Winton understands this. Depending on one's ‘occupation” other solutions may include: Product Recall, Product Guarantee, Product Tamper, Information Technology, Errors & Omissions, There are numerous types of policies that may be appropriate to one's occupation. Each will be evaluated.

7

PRODUCT RECALL INSURANCEProduct Recall Insurance reimburses costs incurred to recall and replace a product in the marketplace with a safe one. Recalling, replacing or destroying products or component parts can cause serious long-term damage to a company’s reputation. Coupled with Business Interruption and Liability Exposure, such incidents often result in considerable costs and loss of public confidence. With recall incidents on the rise, companies are seeking sophisticated balance sheet protection. Whilst a recall extension under a Product Liability policy includes some protection, it does not always reimburse the insured for their own costs incurred to withdraw and replace a product or expert assistance and advice during this process.

DIRECTORS & OFFICERS INSURANCEWith greater corporate governance and increased regulatory surveillance, company Directors and/or Officers, whether they act in a part-time or non-executive capacity, are under increased pressure to diligently carry out their duties, obligations and responsibilities. Directors and Officers Liability (D&O) Insurance is designed to protect personal assets of Directors and Officers of corporations by providing indemnity for losses arising from a wrongful act in the course of performing their duties.

MANAGEMENT LIABILITY INSURANCEManagement Liability Insurance not only provides protection for Directors and Officers of private companies, it also extends to provide coverage for the corporation under certain circumstances. Management Liability is a relatively new form of insurance, and was developed to address several of the perceived inadequacies under the traditional Directors and Officers Liability policies for ‘private companies’. The standard Management Liability cover now includes such additional benefits as: Employment Practices Liability, Fidelity Guarantee Statutory Liability, Cyber Insurance and Tax Audit Insurance.

PROFESSIONAL INDEMNITY INSURANCEA form of Liability Insurance that helps protect professional advice and service providing individuals and companies from bearing the full cost of defending against a negligent claim made by a client, and damages awarded in such a civil lawsuit. Scott Winton can arrange comprehensive and competitive packages to suit your needs.

TRADE CREDIT INSURANCEIf you’re a business that sells goods and services on credit terms, a substantial percentage of your working capital is probably tied up as accounts receivable. With Trade Credit Insurance, you can protect your accounts receivable from losses due to credit risks such as:

Insolvency (liquidation, receivership and bankruptcy) Protracted default (continued non-payment) Political risks (including Contract Frustration, Export Restriction, Currency Inconvertibility and Expropriation) in overseas export market

Trade Credit Insurance, Business Credit Insurance, Export Credit Insurance, or Credit Insurance is an insurance policy and a risk management product offered by insurance companies. Our team specialise in structuring, placing and servicing political, structured credit and domestic/international trade credit risk insurance programs and employs cutting edge and innovative solutions. Various insurance solutions are available including:

Traditional whole of ledger cover Major debtor cover Specific debtor cover Catastrophe cover Supplier default

CYBER INSURANCEThe government has enforced rules around the disclosure in the event of an attack and will administer penalties if such rules are not followed. Beyond that, the information we all hold is seen as a form of power in the wrong hands. Cyber Insurance is an emerging product designed to protect your company against cyber hacking in this technologically advanced world. Due to our reliance on technology for our businesses and enforced government regulations we have already seen a high percentage in claims activity.

CONSTRUCTION INSURANCEWe are well versed in the provision of all Construction Insurance and will assist you in arranging the right policy to suit your needs. This type of insurance is designed to cover the risks associated with a “construction site” be it residential, commercial, civil or mechanical. This cover typically includes: Material Damage (loss or damage to the works including fire, theft, malicious damage, storm etc.) and Public Liability (bodily injury and/or property damage to third parties e.g. the building next door suffers damage as a result of earth works). We are also able to help with Builders Warranty Insurance and Owner Builders Warranty.

OUR PROCESS

WE’RE WITH YOU THROUGH EVERY STEP OF THE INSURANCE PROCESSFrom new business, right through to the claims process we make it our priority to ensure that we guide each and every client through every stage of the insurance process, taking as much time as necessary, to ensure all expectations are met. Scott Winton is a firm believer that insurance is a 3 way deal between the insured, the broker and the insurer/s, and by working as a partnership, we are able to achieve a thorough understanding of the goals and objectives of each partner.

FROM NEW BUSINESS…From the outset, it’s about establishing a long-term relationship, being transparent, winning trust and looking after our clients best interests. Each new client needs to feel confident knowing they’ve got the right insurance coverage, allowing them to concentrate on their core business. At Scott Winton, we make it a priority to be there for our clients whenever they need us.

TO ONGOING MAINTENANCE OF OUR CLIENTS PORTFOLIOS…Our Account Managers maintain regular contact with our clients throughout the year. Not only does this create a personal relationship, it also ensures they remain up to date on any changes to our client's business and answer any queries they may have in regard to their insurance needs.

PROVIDING RISK SURVEYS, VALUATIONS AND SPECIALIST ADVICE WHEN REQUIRED…Prior to a policy being incepted or renewed, we identify which of our clients require a Risk Survey or Valuation and will arrange for these to be done, often at our own expense. This ensures that we provide accurate risk information to the insurers, which often leads to discounted premiums. If required, we obtain specialist advice from service providers such as LMI, Your Claims and Property Valuers (Ensure Group).

INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS TO SUIT SPECIFIC INDUSTRIES AND NEEDS

Scott Winton believes that in order to keep operating effectively in this rapidly changing business environment, it is important to continually demonstrate innovation in how we do business. Some innovations that have improved the quality of our service for our clients and added value to our industry include:

• A Synagogue Scheme, providing specially tailored covers for their unique risks.• The use of Qualified Valuers as standard to mitigate the risk of under-insurance.• The use of Qualified Surveyors as standard to provide risk management advice and support.• A Business Interruption Information Booklet. A simple guide to help determine the appropriate levels of cover, and in the event of a loss, advice on how to get the business back up and running.

TO RENEWALS…Rather than using generic pre-renewal declarations that tend to waste our client’s valuable time, responding to questions that aren’t relevant to them, Scott Winton provides annual Renewal Questionnaires that are tailored to individual circumstances. We also arrange face-to-face meetings with our larger clients and prepare a pre-renewal report and plan before commencing the renewal process. We assess whether the existing cover is still suitable or whether the business has grown to a point where the cover and type of policy needs to be adjusted or upgraded. We work diligently to ensure our clients receive competitive terms for the broadest cover available.

AND ACCESS TO RISK MANAGEMENT SPECIALISTSWe believe that the ability to explore new opportunities and provide sound advice and strategic solutions is key to a thriving sector. So while we don’t have Risk Management Specialists on staff, we do have deep networks within the insurance industry and frequently access senior personnel like Professor Alan Manning of the LMI Group or Neil Talintyre from All Guard Risk Solutions.

13

Our dedicated Claims Team are bound by industry service standards and governing principles. However, we go way beyond the industry standards, and we do not baulk if the insurer initially responds with a ‘decline’. We work tirelessly to obtain satisfactory outcomes. Once a claim has been settled, a survey is sent to our clients to review our service. This gives them a chance to provide feedback and allow us to continually work on improving our Claims Service.

CLAIMS

“WHEN THE CUSTOMER COMES FIRST. THE CUSTOMER WILL LAST”

14

CLAIM TESTIMONIAL #1Storm damage to roof, internal damage to carpets and ceiling as well as loss of rent component. Originally insurer was only willing to accept the internal damage/loss of rent, by denying damage to the roof claiming the damage related to poor workmanship and the roof poorly maintained, however we were able to obtain a letter from the repairer who advised that all the damage related to storm and claim was paid in full.

CLAIM PAYOUT $17,212.15“Fantastic - great result, thank you for all your hard work, I know the insurance company was very hard work. Well done again!!!”

CLAIM TESTIMONIAL #2Fire/Arson at a shopping centre caused three tenancies to be totally destroyed and another to be partially damaged. This triggered both the Material Damage and Business Interruption components of our policy. Due to the immense scope and complexity of the claim, Scott Winton, the insurers and us as clients, worked together for the best possible outcome. We received vital advice and guidance throughout from Scott Winton. It highlighted the fact that adequate sums insured together with Business Interruption Insurance often make the difference between survival and failure of a business.

CLAIM PAYOUTMATERIAL DAMAGE $10,936,000.00BUSINESS INTERRUPTION $1,990,000.00

“Scott Winton was amazing! They ensured that the claim moved along smoothly and kept us updated on its progress at all times. I am grateful to Scott Winton for ensuring that I had adequate coverage for this type of loss.”

CLAIM TESTIMONIAL #3Client suffered a slipped disk whilst overseas in Geneva. With our guidance he contacted Customer Care overseas. Upon his return, he forwarded us invoices for further medical expenses totaling $13,910.51 which he was reimbursed for. Customer Care authorised costs totalling $16,813.09 whilst he was hospitalised overseas.

CLAIM PAYOUT $30,723.60

“I received the payment overnight into my bank account for my travel claim for which I thank you. Once again, thank you for all your support and superb service during this horrific travel claim, I unfortunately had to experience.”

SUPPORT & EDUCATION

SUPPORT & EDUCATION

FOR OUR CLIENTS We take the time to educate all clients on the importance of obtaining “replacement” valuations, the benefits of survey reports and the value of purchasing cover based on the policy conditions rather than price.

We provide education to key personnel through face-to-face meetings, interactions over the telephone and annual reviews. We have seen the benefit of this process, in that the organisations now check their coverage rather than assume that because they have taken out insurance all contingencies are covered.

FOR OUR STAFFProfessional development, ongoing training and mentoring is a priority and an integral part of our company philosophy. This is reflective of the value we place on every team member in our organisation and builds on their knowledge to properly deal with our clients. It’s also important to Scott Winton to nurture our profession, by cultivating the next generation of insurance brokers.

Scott Winton has a high regard for ANZIIF Qualifications, our people are encouraged to obtain both Tier 2 and Tier 1 Qualifications. This is paid for in full by Scott Winton. We currently have several staff members who have completed their Diploma of Financial Services (Insurance Broking) with ANZIIF, and several who are currently in the process of obtaining this valuable qualification. We ensure they have sufficient time allocated for study.

Our staff also attend external underwriter sessions, receive computer skills training, particularly in WinBEAT, and are provided with in-house training by our own experienced staff. Underwriters also attend the offices of Scott Winton on a regular basis to provide training sessions on new products and particular insurance classes. We continually use the services of LMI Group for internal training.

PEOPLEBEFORE PROFIT

18

A HAPPY CUSTOMER IS A WALKING ADVERTISEMENTAt Scott Winton we believe that a happy customer is more valuable than any advertising campaign. It’s this approach to customer service that has enabled us to achieve exceptional growth over the years.

One of the principle ways we gauge client satisfaction is the rate of client retention and the number of personal referrals our business gets each year. We do not spend money on expensive marketing campaigns. The new business referrals we get from existing clients keep our Account Managers busy enough. And we’re pleased to say, our figures speak for themselves.
