For the last few days the children have shown an interest in creativity by spending a lot of time in the art area doing lovely drawings and pastings. As this is my first week in the program, we are making a new art wall. The children have been working very hard to get this ready, keep an eye out! The children have also extended this creativity into building things with the Lego. They have shown a continuing interest in farm houses as we have been constructing different types of designs with amazing outdoor area facilities for the farm animals. The children have also explored their creativity when asking to use the balloons in games. The children came up with the idea of each child having a balloon and competing to see to see who could get it to touch the roof of the hall. Other things played a race when they blew up the balloon then without tying it up, they let it go and

saw whose flew the fastest. We have also had some exciting paper plane races where one child's design of a plane went from one end of the hall to another. When the night draws to an end we have all been sitting down together playing Hang Man. The children love guessing the letters and we all have a laugh and celebrate when the word is finally discovered. I look forward to meeting the rest of the families. Glenroy West Primary School is inviting students from Year 3 - 6 to take part in this challenge in 2016, to continue our participation in this nationwide event. This competition involves solving problems that can require more than one stage and process. It is a fun and challenging way for students to explore different mathematical ideas and experiences, broadening their knowledge and creativity. The competition is designed for a range of student abilities, so all students are able to take part. The Australian Mathematics Competition is being held on Thursday 28th July.
