Dear Parents and Friends
Today I had the pleasure of participating in Speech with Jo Anne and an initial introduction to our visiting Eurythmist, Anna Kotanidis. I was struck by a Sanskrit poem that was shared and I wanted to share it with the whole community:

Look to this day:For it is life, the very life of life.In its brief courseLie all the verities and realities of your existence.The bliss of growth,The glory of action,The splendor of achievement. For yesterday is already a dreamAnd tomorrow is only a vision;
But today well-lived, makes Every yesterday a dream of happinessAnd every tomorrow a vision of hope.Therefore, look well to this day;Such is the salutation to the dawn!
Principal Cont.

Front Office - Health
Please note we have reported cases of conjunctivitis.
ConjunctivitisAn inflammation of the lining of the eye and eyelid caused by bacteria, viruses, chemicals or allergies (colour plate no. 3).Symptoms may include:• Redness in the whites of the eyes• Irritation in one or both eyes• Discharge, causing the eyelids to stick together in the
morning• Swelling of the eyelids• Sensitivity to light.Diagnosis is made by clinical and / or microscopic examination and culture of discharge from the eye. It is usually not possible to tell whether the conjunctivitis is caused by bacteria or viruses without laboratory tests.Viral and bacterial conjunctivitis can be spread by direct contact with eye secretions or indirectly by contact with towels, washcloths, handkerchiefs and other objects that have been contaminated with eye secretions. In some cases it can be spread by insects such as flies. Conjunctivitis caused by chemicals or allergies is not infectious.
Incubation period (time between becoming infected and developing symptoms) is usually 24 – 72 hours. Infectious period (time during which an infected person can infect others) is while the eye discharge is present.TreatmentAntibiotic eye drops or ointment may be prescribed by a doctor. Since bacterial and viral infections look the same, a person with symptoms of conjunctivitis should always be seen by a doctor for examination, diagnosis and treatment.Control of Spread• Exclude from child care, preschool, school or work
until discharge from the eyes has ceased.• Good personal hygiene (careful hand washing, using
soap and warm water) must be followed• Do not share towels and wash cloths.
Imagine for a moment….Don’t miss the Class 12 Project Presentations over the coming two weekends in the Living Arts Centre. (See program in this newsletter). This weekends’ talks are: Friday 15 November 4.30pm afternoon tea, talks from 5pm.Saturday 16 November from 8.30am to 3.00pm.Sunday 17 November from 8.30am to 3.000pm. Come and explore the worlds our Class 12 students have adventured through this year. Share their deep and varied questions and hear their reflections. Everyone is welcome! This is a heart-warming community event where we, the audience, can appreciate how far our students travel through their years at our school. The students also look forward to the experience as a moment of personal fulfilment and recognition. They can share their personal work and journeys with you, the community. This takes some courage and much preparation. We look forward to seeing you there!

On Thursday, 28 November (Week 7), from 3.30pm to 7pm we will be holding our annual Twilight Market around the lawns of the Eurythmy Room. We would like to acknowledge the legacy of her inspiration and this enduring gift she gave to the school.This wonderful community event gives everyone an opportunity to purchase beautiful hand-crafted goods for the festive season, as well as enjoy delicious food and refreshments, and appreciate student and community entertainment in the ambience of the Eurythmy Room lawns. If you are interested in having a stall, application form available at the Front Office. Site fees remain at $20. (High School students $10, Primary School students $5) Please complete and return to the Front Office by 22 November 2019.
Please remember: the emphasis is on homemade handcrafts and produce & nourishing foods.If you are interested in playing music or performing, please contact Ruth Bormann at school. Students and adults are all welcome to participate to help create a wonderful atmosphere and another opportunity to perform!If you are able to distribute flyers in your area, please collect from the Front Office. We would love to see as many people there as possible. Also, this is another great opportunity of showcasing our school and encouraging the general public to attend.
