Dear Parish Families, As we draw closer to the end of 2019, I know that many people have been inquiring as to when the Mass Book for 2020 would be open to schedule Masses for loved ones in the upcoming year. It is my hope and plan to be able to have that available as soon as possible, but, as you can probably imagine, there is some figuring out of things and prayer and reflection that must happen before that can be done. The reality of my having been called to serve 2 separate parish communities as Pastor means that there will be some rearranging of the Mass schedule that will need to happen. Over the course of the past month, the Parish Councils of both parishes and I have been meeting and discussing the realities of parish life. While I can certainly assure you that there are no plans whatsoever to merge parishes or close either parish, we have also come to the agreement that we cannot maintain the current Mass schedule as it is going forward. This is not a decision we came to lightly, but only with much prayer and discernment. The Eucharist is the central part of who we are as Catholics, and it is very important to all of us that the celebration of the Eucharist is celebrated reverently and well. But with the reality of my going back and forth between the two parishes, it was impossible to not make any changes. While Fr. Clancy and Fr. Klein have been a tremendous help so far and plan to help me out for as long as they’re able, in my conversations with the Diocese they have asked me to propose an adjusted Mass schedule that I would be able to handle should and when the time come that either or both Fr. Klein and Fr. Clancy are unable to help anymore. This isn’t necessarily going to be an immediate reality, but rather than adjusting the Mass schedule now and then again down the line, I was asked to make the changes now. There are still a few more adjustments to both the weekday and weekend schedules that must be fig-ured out as soon as possible and be able to open the Mass Book in the not-too-distant future. But ei-ther way, please know that changes like this as not something that either I or any of the members of ei-ther Parish Council take lightly. I would invite us to see beyond ME to WE, to move from “Don’t change MY Mass,” to “What do WE need to do to help our parishes continue to be vibrant and welcoming com-munities of faith?” Together we can move forward and continue to bring Christ into our Communities!

In Christ’s Love, Fr. John
