At least seven days’ notice is required before the first reading of banns. Banns have to be read on three Sundays before the marriage. (Section 3) If either of you will be under the age of 18 on the day of the wedding, and has not been widowed, the consent of parents or guardians is required. (Sections 4,11,12) The Church’s official rules do not permit the marriage in church of anyone who has been divorced from a person still living. (Section 6) Include the town, county and postcode. (Section 15) This means the Church of England parish in which you live. If either of you does not live in the parish where the marriage is to take place, you must arrange for the banns to be read in your own parish and obtain a banns certificate.
