 Anointing of the Sick Please notify us (355.1292) as early as possible for the Anointing of the Sick, the sacrament intended for the seriously ill or dying. It isOur Lord’s special presence and companionship in serious time of need. Anointing may take place in the home, at the hospital orelsewhere and as often as once a month. If someone should die without anointing, remember that the desire to receive is sufficientand the Lord cares! 

If You Should Experience the Loss of a Loved OnePlease call us at 355.1292If you feel you will be in need, or your loved one has passed, we willassist in making arrangements with your chosen funeral directors;refer you to our liturgy and music directors; and offer you helpfulguidelines and a book that will aid in the selection of readings for theMass or Memorial Service. Areas we can help you with prior to thepassing may help in the planning of funeral services. We know thatthis can be a tough time and we want you to know that your parish isthere for you. PLEASE UNDERSTAND  we only have one residentpriest, sometimes arrangements for another priest may be needed.

Dylan Magsarili has completed his Eagle Scout Project and St.Rita parish is the grateful recipient of his efforts. Our beautifulHoly Family Shrine (in the front yard, east of the ParishOffice) was enhanced with a new bench, new kneeler andimproved stone path. Dylan’s organizational skills and hard work will benefit all who take advantage of this wonderfulspot for meditation and prayer.

 Thank you, Dylan—and thank you to the following scouts andfriends who helped Dylan complete the project:

Backpack Drive for St. Francis Center (SFC)

 We have offered to supply back-to-school supplies for some of the 200children who faithfully attend after-school and summer school programs atSFC in downtown L.A. Last year, yourgenerosity was outstanding—weprovided over 113 backpacks along with16 large boxes of school supplies.

So, while you’re out and about, watch for sales and pick upa few items. Collection boxes will be in the Vestibulebeginning July 13—the drive ends on Monday, August 5 toallow time for all donations to be transported to SFC for

their distribution weekend.►Please—no used items . A flyer listing the neededitems will be inserted in a future Bulletin.

 And  —would you like to help? We need volunteers to takethe items from the Vestibule to Gara Hall after each week-end Mass; to help us sort the donations weekly; and finally to prepare everything for the SFC van pick-up!

Playing It Safe When the Heat Is On 

 The hottest months of summer are here,and many children will be playing sportsand participating in other activitiesoutdoors.

Make sure summer camp supervisors and coachesknow how to recognize and properly treat the signsof heat-related problems in children, including confusion; dilated pupils; dizziness; fainting;headache; heavy perspiration; nausea; pale and moistor hot, dry skin; weak pulse; and weakness. Every summer sports program for children should haverules for playing it safe when the heat is on.
