READINGS FOR SEPTEMBER 20TWENTY-FIFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME Reading I – Isaiah 55:6-9 Reading II – Philippians 1:20c-24, 27a Gospel – Matthew 20:1-16a

LIFE FOCUS QUESTIONS• Today’s psalm proclaims, “The Lord is near to all who call upon

him.” In your life of faith, when have you needed to call upon the Lord the most fervently?

• St. Paul writes to the Philippians, “For me life is Christ, and death is gain.” Do you identify with this statement? Why or why not?

• How do you feel about God’s justice as portrayed in the parable of the laborers in the vineyard?

• In what ways do you try to live out Jesus’ proverb, “The last will befirst, andthefirstwillbelast”?

PASTOR’S CORNER Next Sunday is Catechetical Sunday. It is an opportunity for us as a community to ask God’s blessings on those who engage in the Ministry of Faith Formation. These include those who are involved in teaching our young people in Preschool, Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, the Parish School of Religion, the Parish School, Sacramental Preparation, the EDGE Middle School Group, Athletics, High School Youth Ministry, RCIA, Adult Faith Formation Programs, Young AdultMinistry,EvangelizationMinistryandMarriagePreparation.Therearemanyopportunitiestobecomeinvolvedinthese ministries as participants, facilitators, teachers and assistants. If you haven’t already done so, please take or see our Community Connections Booklet as it describes the various ministries in this area and other areas of our parish life. The Booklet is available in the Gathering Space and on the Parish Website. We are most grateful for those who give of their time and talents in these areas! There will be a special blessing for all catechists at each of the Masses.

If you have children that have not yet registered for PSR there is still time to do so. This is especially important and necessaryforthosewhoarepreparingforFirstReconciliation,FirstCommunionandConfirmation!

Many thanks to all those who made the Drive-thru Fish Fry a great success! Once again the generosity of many makes these efforts possible. Thanks to the Knights of Columbus who have shared their experience and expertise in this effort.

God’s blessings!Father Leo Connolly

However, in light of COVID-19

restrictions and safety protocols from the Department of Education, parents and other parishioners will not be able to attend this Mass with the students.

Walking with Purpose is a Catholic women’s Bible Study open to all women. It integrates scripture with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church to point us to principles that help us manage life’s pace and pressure while living with calm and steadiness. St. Cecilia is opening up enrollment for our foundational study called Opening Your Heart. At this time, we are only offering it through Zoom, but if there is the need to also offer an in-person group, we are open to exploring that aswell.OurbeginningdatewillbethefirstweekofOctober.The date and time will depend on the participants. If you are new to Bible Study or have many years of experience, this study is for you. God will meet you where you are. He is always faithful to take us to a deeper, better place, regardless of where we come from. Since we are offering the Zoom format, please feel free to invite out-of-town friends or relatives. If you have any questions or would like to sign up, please feel free to contact Sharon Reinhard at [email protected].
