La Confirmación es uno de los tres sacramentos de iniciación. De acuerdo al Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica (CIC), “En efecto, a los bautizados el sacramento de la Confirmación los une más íntimamente a la Iglesia y los enriquece con una fortaleza especial del Espíritu Santo. De esa forma se comprometen mucho más, como auténticos testigos de Cristo, a extender y a defender la fe con sus palabras y sus obras.” CIC 1285.

Como el Bautismo, la Confirmación sólo puede ser recibida una vez, ya que imprime en el alma una marca espiritual indeleble. En la Confirmación, estamos marcados con el sello del Espíritu Santo.

Los adultos que buscan entrar en plena comunión con la Iglesia Católica deberan asistir a las clases de preparación los Domingos de 3:00 PM a 4:45 PM en Ingles y los Sábados de 5:00 PM a 6:45 PM en Español. Estas clases empezarán el 7 y 8 de Enero, 2012 y continuarán hasta el dia de la Confirmación, el 5 de Mayo, 2012 en la Misa de las 10:00 AM con los estudiantes de la Secundaria que tambien recibirán su Confirmación.

Las clases se enfocan en el sacramento mismo y en las enseñanzas de la Iglesia para que puedan estar plenamente preparados para ser miembros de la fe Católica. Los candidatos eligen un santo patrón y un patrocinador. El santo patrón se elige basado en los atributos que él o ella tuvo durante su vida y que el candidato desea emular, o por algún otro motivo similar.

Un hombre o una mujer, viviendo fielmente la fe Católica, es elegido como patrocinador - para servir de apoyo y modelo de vida cristiana. Es apropiado elegir a uno de los padrinos del bautismo como patrocinador, por la conexión que realmente tienen la Confirmación y el Bautismo. Confirmation is one of the three sacraments of initiation. According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC), "By the sacrament of Confirmation, [the baptized] are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed" (par. 1285). Like Baptism, Confirmation can only be received once since it imprints on our soul an indelible spiritual mark. At Confirmation, we are marked with the seal of the Holy Spirit. Adults seeking to come into full communion with the Catholic Church attend preparation classes. English will be on Sundays from 3-4:45PM. And Spanish will be Saturdays 5PM – 6:45 PM. These classes will begin in January 7 & 8, 2012 and continue until the day of Confirmation, which will be on May 5, 2012 at the 10:00 am Mass with the high school students receiv ing their Confirmation.

Classes focus on the sacrament itself and on Church teachings so they can be fully prepared to be members of the Catholic faith. The candidates choose a patron saint and a sponsor. The patron saint is chosen based on attributes he or she exhibited in life that the candidate wishes to emulate, or for some other similar reason. A man or woman, faithfully living out the Catholic faith, is chosen as a sponsor - to be a support and a role model of Christian living. It is appropriate to choose one's baptismal godparent as one's sponsor, with the connection that Confirmation and Baptism truly have.

SACRAMENTAL INFORMATION: BAPTISM: Parents must be active registered members of St. Theresa for three months before they may begin the Baptism process. Baptism preparation classes are held in the Conference Room of the Parish Life Center as follows:

• Third Saturday of every month at 9:00 a.m.— English

• Fourth Saturday of every month at 4:30 p.m. - Español

Baptism Ceremonies (No Mass) are held in our Sanctuary at 9:00 AM as follows:

• Second Saturday of every month in English

• Third Saturday of every month in Spanish FIRST COMMUNION: Prepared and Celebrated in 2nd Grade (required to attend PSR at least 1 year prior to receiving sacrament as this is a 2 year process).

CONFIRMATION: Prepared and Celebrated in 10th Grade (required to attend PSR classes at least 1 year prior to receiving sacrament as this is a 2 year process).

MARRIAGE: The couple must be registered, active members of this parish for a minimum of three months before marriage preparation can begin. Please call the Parish Office to make an appointment with Priest at least six months in advance.

ANOINTING OF THE SICK: This Sacrament is available by appointment for any Catholic who is ill or entering the hospital for any reason. Please call the parish office to receive this Sacrament.

STEWARDSHIP WORD OF WISDOM PALABRAS DE SABIDURIA In today’s second reading Paul concludes his letter to the Christian community at Thessalonica by providing it with actions to take as they wait for the return of the Lord. The first action is to rejoice always and give thanks in all circumstances. This sounds easy but it’s not. The two words that make this task difficult are “always” and “all”. This means giving thanks and rejoicing even when our circumstances are not always moments of joy and thanksgiving, or when we are confronted with a broken word. Prayerful stewards rejoice and give thanks in all circumstances because they are people of hope. A good reflection this week would be how the season of Advent can give you reason to hope.

En la segunda lectura de hoy Pablo concluye su carta a la comunidad cristiana en Tesalónica proveyéndola con acciones para ser tomadas mientras espera el regreso del Señor. La primera acción es regocijarse siempre y dar gracias en todas las circunstancias. Esto parece fácil, pero no lo es. Las dos palabras que hacen difícil esta tarea son

“siempre” y “todas”. Esto significa dar gracias y regocijarnos aún cuando nuestras circunstancias no sean siempre momentos de gozo y acción de gracias, o cuando somos confrontados con un mundo fuera de orden. Los corresponsables piadosos se regocijan y dan gracias en todas las circunstancias porque son personas de esperanza. Una buena reflexión esta semana podría ser acerca de cómo el tiempo de adviento puede darle un motivo de esperanza.

A STEWARDSHIP PRAYER FOR ADVENT

Heavenly Father, You gave us this blessed season of Advent as a gift of time to prepare for the coming of Christ Child. But all too often we turn this gift into a

source of frenzy, stress and anxiety; a time where we’re apt to

prepare for a Christmas celebration looking perfect on the outside, but spiritually exhausting

and without true meaning.

Restore in us that inherent quest for quiet expectation and hope.

Show us the way to a more peaceful, prayerful disposition to

makes us more open to a conversion of heart. And give us the courage to let go of things that are ultimately unimportant to the

true meaning of Christmas.

Help us be good stewards of this Advent season, so that on the Feast of the Nativity, we will be ready with our own sacred space for the arrival of your Son, Jesus Christ, in whose name we now

pray. Amen.

Tu nos das este período bendito de Adviento

como tiempo para preparar la venida de Cristo Niño. Sin embargo, con demasiada frecuencia nosotros

convertimos este don en causa de agitación, estrés y ansiedad; un

tiempo en el que nosotros estamos dispuestos a preparanos para una celebración de la Navidad que luce

perfecta en el exterior, pero extenuante espiritualmente y sin un

verdadero significado.

Restablece en nosotros esa búqueda inherente de tranquila expectativa y

esperanza.

Muéstranos el camino hacia una disposición más tranquila y piadosa que nos forme más abiertos a una conversión de corazón. Y danos el

valor de deshacernos de las cosas que finalmente no son de importancia para el verdadero significado de la

Navidad.

Ayúdanos a ser buenos corresponsables de esta época de
