hot and spots skin to protectthemselves from theirpredators. The 32 acres of woodlands and
meadowlands at Mile EndCemetery Park wasspectacular in the sunshineand full of creatures andbeautiful plants and flowers. We had a picnic and a dip intheir pond with their nets andother pond-dipping equipment.Everyone was fascinated at allthe new and different pondcreatures we learnedabout. Here's some of what wecaught; newts, damselflies& mayflies, pond snails, leeches and stinging nymphs!Pressherefor more.

Yesterday Years 1, 2 and 3 took a trip to London Zooand it couldnt have been a better day to go. The
weather was glorious and we had plenty of time tosee the creatures we wanted to see.
After lunch and a bit of play, we went to ourworkshop which was all about animals that usecamouflage to survive. The children really impressedme with their knowledge and they loved exploringthe artefacts in the work room.
The travel was quite a challenge, but considering theheat and walking, the children were amazingly calmand happy throughout the day. Press herefor the
slideshow.
On Wednesday, Year 2/3 and Media Club
went to the London Youth Film Awards at
the Stratford Picture House. This was a great
event hosted by our very own Paul Jones
who promotes young peoples film making
in London. We got to watch an amazingvariety of films, from animations to How to
videos, as well as watching all the films
that weve made this year.
David talked about the history of film and
got to play a live piano score to Media
Clubs Silent Film.
Oscar won best actor for his role as Mr Twit.
He and Dolly were both brilliant in our Twits
film and acted using lots of expression. Theirperformances were absolutely hilarious.
We had a great time at the London Youth
Film Awards. It was wonderful to see our films
on the big screen. Well done to all the
children who worked so hard to make these
short films. Hopefully Year 2/3 will be making
some more movies soon. Below is a slide
show of the day and the movies we shared.
Congratulations to the children andteachers for making this a memorable
experience. Presshereto see all the movies
we showed.

Today we had prizes for two reasons: For the EYFS guys, they won a prize if
they had tried something new, and for both classes, this was practise for
Sports Day that we're holding next Tuesday. For the Year 1, 2, 3 children the
focus was to respect privacy and I'm pleased to say that, overall, all thechildren did well, but especially these guys for their continued effort to be
respectful of others.
The certificates this week were for the usual lovely reasons, and there was
some focus on Sports Day preparations and the effort some children put into
this, so well done to you all!
We did not have an Artist of the Week this week as we were all too busy
being out and about, so we chose to award a Sports-person of the Week
and it went to Mabel in Year 1 for always encouraging her friends to do well,
showing determination to do her best and being helpful and kind. Well
done you!
The Musician of the Weekwent to Alfie in Year 1. Paul said that it was great
to see him joining in this week with enthusiasm, learning to sing traditional
country/folk songs 'Home on the Range' and 'Danny Boy' all with a lively
spirit and energetic. He also came up with great ideas when working with a
group. He is enjoying the preparations for this years upcoming summer
show with interesting dance moves to accompany the 'Caucus Race' song.Great work, keep it up! Pressherefor more.

Dress Up and Dance + Smoothies
We are supporting Macmillan Cancer Research as we embark on Dress up and Dance NEXT FRIDAYJune 20th. For this, we will be dressing up for the day in our favourite dance outfits and making adonation to Macmillan. Some classes will be following the DVD of suggested dance moves, and wewill have a bit of a boogie in assembly! Presshereto learn more.
In addition, we thought it would be good after all that exercise to relax with a delicious, freshlymade smoothie and other healthy treats which will be on sale after school for all!
Sun Cream
As the temperature soars and the sun shines on our little ones, please could you ensure you bring a
bottle of sun cream with your child for us to apply during the day? In addition to sun hats andappropriate clothing for this weather, its important that we keep our children hydrated throughoutthe day, and protected from the sun.
