In Nursery Class this week we have been

learning all about road safety. We have learnt

about the Green Cross Code and we spoke

about the safest way to cross the road. We also

used the zebra crossing and traffic lights in the

playground, used the cars to make some track

paintings and learnt about patterns by making

    our very own zebra crossings.

The children in Reception Classhave been very eager to write their own stories this week,

using the 'Helicopter Technique' for storytelling and story acting. They've done a superb job

at creating all sorts of imaginative stories about everything from fairy pirates to explosionsto sea rescues! In this lovely technique used with young children, the adults scribe the

children's stories, word for word and the children get to do the exciting parts - illustrating

their stories and choosing which character they'd like to be. Then the whole class gathersaround a stage area and helps to act out the different stories. Its absolutely magical andeveryone in our class is always bursting to take part!

Prince Charming came to visit Year 1this week!

In literacy we have been looking at characters speech and question

    writing.

We looked at children interviewing famous people including Barack

Obama and looked at how to write interesting questions.

We treated our time with Prince Charmingvery seriously. We found

out lots of information about Mr and Mrs Charming as well as things

about where he comes from, what he does in his free time and about

what motivated him to set off on a quest to find sleeping beauty.

He was very posh and ate lots of funny things like gold dust on toast

    and magical mash.

We also finished off our presentations this week and they were

fantastic! We are really looking forward to our shadow puppet

theatre next week as well as looking at play scripts. Press hereto see

    more photos.

In Year 2/3 we had a

    wonderful time raising

    money for Sport Relief

    at Spitalfields Market.

    We really wanted to

know how much we'dmade, so when we got

    back to class we sorted

    all the coins and used

    our times tables and

    addition to find the

    total amount.

    Each table sorted the

    coins into separate

    piles: 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p,20p, 50p, 1 and 2

    and then calculated

    the total value of each

    pile. We then added all

    of these totals together

    to find that we had

    raised 454.67

It was a really funmaths lesson with a

    fantastic real-life

    context. Well done

    Year 2/3!!! Presshere.

This week, the focus was for children to

pay forward positive comments to each

other with a view to making each others

day. The prizes and some of the

certificates reflected this effort so well

    done to all!

Next weeks focus for Nursery and

Reception Classes is to tidy up their

outdoor things when theyve finished with

them and for Year 1, 2 and 3 to continue

with the theme of empathy and really

demonstrate they know how it feels to be

    someone else.
