Roald Dahl was an British writer. He wrote a lot of popular books for children. He also wrote books for adults. He was a screenwriter, too.

Roald Dahl was born in Llandaf, Wales. He was born on September 13,

His parents were both Norwegian, but they lived in Wales. Roald spoke Norwegian at home and English at school. Dahl attended Llandaff Cathedral School for just two years. When he was 3, his sister Astri and his

father died within a short period of time. His mother was left to care after 6 children all by herself. She used to tell them stories.

He went with his mother to Norway during his summer holidays.

When he was 9, he attended to St. Peter’s, a British Boarding school. He didn’t like this school because he was treated poorly and often beaten.

After graduating from Repton School,(in Derby shire) he went to work for the Shell Oil Company of East Africa.

He was an ace fighter pilot and a spy for England during World War II.

He lived in Nairobi, Kenya; Iraq; Alexandria, Egypt; Eleusina, Greece; and Haifa, Egypt. 

After his return to Britain, Roald Dahl moved to Washington, DC. He married actress Patricia Neal with whom had five children. Olivia, Tessa, Theo, Ophelia, and Lucy. Then they divorced. After that, he married Felicity Crossland

In 1954, Road bought "Gipsy House" in Great Missenden in Buckinghamshire, England, which was his home until his death in 1990.

Roald Dahl died on November 23rd. He died in Oxford. He died at the age of 74 of a blood disease.

Dahl has been accused of racism and anti-Semitism, although he always denied the charges.

Dahl always seemed to stir up some kind of controversy.

He had a bad time at school. He was severely injured when he was a pilot. His father and sister died while he was still a

toddler. As an adult, his oldest daughter died because of an illness, then his only son was left brain damaged after a terrible accident. His first wife, actress Patricia Neal, had a severe stroke during this period of time as well.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was published in 1964.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was first published in the United States.

The story was originally inspired by Roald Dahl's experience of chocolate companies during his schooldays. Cadbury would often send test packages to the schoolchildren in exchange for their opinions on the new products.

The story is about a boy, Charlie Bucket and Charlie Wonka, the owner of a chocolate factory.
