LIVE THE LITURGY - INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK Jesus compares the Kingdom of God to a mustard seed, the tiniest of seeds. When planted, the tiny mustard seed grows into a tremendous tree with large branches. So, too, in each of our lives, small things can have profound effects. God can use one of our more insignificant gestures to radically change another person's life. It may be the kindness of a smile, our willingness to accommodate someone, listening to someone's story, helping someone who is hurting, standing up for someone who is right, or complimenting someone on something they did. We all have God-given gifts and talents. Our task is to use them creatively, consistently, lovingly, and generously. We trust that God will take care of the rest.

SUNDAY’S READINGS First Reading: Birds of every kind shall dwell beneath it, every winged thing in the shade of its boughs. (Ez 17:23b) Psalm: Lord, it is good to give thanks to you. (Ps 92) Second Reading: Yet we are courageous, and we would rather leave the body and go home to the Lord. (2 Cor 5:8) Gospel: "This is how it is with the kingdom of God; it is as if a man were to scatter seed on the land? Of its own accord the land yields fruit, first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear." (Mk 4:26, 28-29) Next Sunday: Is 49:1-6/Ps 139:1-3, 13-14, 14-15 [14a]/Acts 13:22-26/Lk 1:57-66, 80

- Mc 4, 26. 28-29 Domingo: Ez 17, 22-24/Sal 92, 2-3. 13-14. 15-16 [cfr. 2]/2 Cor 5, 6-10/Mc 4, 26-34 Domingo siguiente: Is 49, 1-6/Sal 139, 1-3. 13-14. 14-15 [14]/Hch 13, 22-26/Lc 1, 57-66. 80

Sharing the GospelThink of how much you have grown since you were born. To see you now, it is hard to imagine you ever wore baby clothes. God’s kingdom started out small, and it keeps growing, too. God’s kingdom needs people like you to love Jesus and to learn from him. Let God’s word sink into your life. As you grow closer to Jesus, God’s kingdom will grow.

Question: If God knows everything we do, why do we need to go to Confession? Answer: Another term for the Sacrament of Confession is the Sacrament of Reconciliation. We go to this

sacrament not only to confess our sins, but to be reconciled with God. Of course, this begs the question, "If I can pray to God on my own, why can't I be reconciled to God on my own?" In the seven sacraments, we recognize the importance of community. Sacraments like Baptism or Matrimony happen in the context of the wider church to remind us of the communal impact of our lives. We are not alone in our walk of faith!

We don't need to confess our sins in front of the whole community -- thank God! But going to the Sacrament of Reconciliation is a tangible reminder that our sins affect not only ourselves and our relationship with God, but others as well. Jesus gave his Apostles authority to forgive sins in his name. Through this sacrament, we are really, truly forgiven by God Himself. We receive an outpouring of grace and strength to sin no more and our relationship with Christ and his Body, the Church, are restored.
