R E S O LUTION High Q uality Life for e Ka lb By Viola Davis RN BSN High Quality Life Consortium issues a petition and resolution to DeKalb County Soard of Education in an effort to reclaim our neighborhood schools and ensure a high quality education for our children. We strive for full transparency, ethics, and accountabil ity of issues that adversely affect our children, schools, and co mmun it y. High Quaity Life Consortium issues this Resolution to elected officials hred and f i red with our votes, and paid with our tax money to ensure a high quality of life and education for our children nd community . WHEREAS: The mission of the DeKalb County School System (DCSS) is to form a collaborative effort between home a d school that maximizes students' social and academic potential, preparing them to compete in a gl ob al so cie ty. DeKalb County School System (DCSS) strives to ensure fiscal responsibili ty in order to maintain safe and healthy learn in g environments th at support academic progra ms, re sources and serv ic es. The Geo gia constitution states the provi ion of an adequate public education for the citizens be a primary responsibili ty of the sta e of Georgia . And, WHER EA S: The state of Georgia, presently nderGovernor Nathan Deal and the Georgia General Assembly, has removed over $100 million per year from DeKalb County's school system to 'redistribute' to other school syste ms throughout Georg ia . The state of Georgia has removed over $100 million dollars of our collected tax money per year since 2 06 under the outdated OSE formula under the local 5-mill share tax and out of control 'austerity cuts' fr om DeKalb County School Syst em. The state of Georgia placed over 70% of the Refugees in the Clarkston Cluster of the DeKalb County School System wit hout sufficient fi nances for supportiv e serv ic es. No w, TH ER EF OR E: We call DeKalb County School System to rebuild public trust with parents, homeowners, taxpayers and vote rs by ensuri ng transparency, eth ics, nd accounta bil it y. We call on the state of Georgia (Governor Nathan Deal and the Georgia General Assembly) to stop removing over $100+ million dollars per year from the DeKalb County School System under the local 5-mill share tax until the outside school systems reach 20 mills. We, the undersigned, are concerned ta xpaying citizens, businesses, churc hes and/o r organizations. High Quality Life Consortium issues a petition and resolution to DeKalb County Soard of Education in

an effort to reclaim our neighborhood schools and ensure a high quality education for our children. We

schools, and community.

WHEREAS:

The mission of the DeKalb County School System (DCSS) is to form a collaborative effort between home

DeKalb County School System (DCSS) strives to ensure fiscal responsibility in order to maintain safe

and healthy learning environments that support academic programs, resources and services.
