From all the Staff, Students and Reservoir Primary

community we would like to congratulate you on this very

special milestone- 50 years of service with the Department of

Education and Training.

May you continue to inspire us and be proud for all your hard

work and achievements and for making a difference in the

lives of many children

It takes a very special person to be in this profession.

You are just amazing!

Patiently you mentor and lead, sharing wisdom and meeting

each need, support and advice willingly you give…

Today you lead the school,

Tomorrow your students will lead the world.

We thank you for your service and leadership in making what

Reservoir Primary is today, the best!

All students from Years Foundation to Year 2 cut a circle

from one of their painted artworks throughout the year, which

reflected warm colours.

The cooler colours were painted from students Years 3-6

from their artwork.

It was then the teachers turn to cut out the gold circles and

then collaboratively arranged them on paper.

Abstract artist Laura Blythman inspired us to create this

artwork.

We hope you like it Ms Miller. Wishing you all the very best

Helen Miller celebrates 50 years in education this year.

This is an astounding and rare achievement for any educator but Helen's milestone is all the more significant as she has spent the majority of that time at our school.

We are extremely fortunate to have such a committed leader at Reservoir and we can see evidence of her efforts every day in her talented staff, visible excellence in learning and teaching and most importantly in our children's smiling faces.

Thank you Helen, for everything you've done and continue to do for Reservoir Primary and the generations of children and teachers you've nurtured over the last fifty years and in the years to come!

Linda Angeloni School Council President

TERM 4 YOU CAN DO IT RESILIENCE Resilience means when faced with difficult and challenging situations and people being able to:

1) stop getting extremely angry, down or worried 2) Controlling my behaviour when I am very upset (not fighting, not running away) 3) Calming down within a reasonable period of time and 4) Bouncing back to work and play Examples of resilience Not getting extremely angry and fighting when someone is mean or acts unfairly. Not worrying a lot about having to take a test or meeting someone. Not getting very down and staying away from people after receiving a bad result or if someone says something bad about me. Calming down when I am extremely angry, down or worried. Bouncing back to work or play after a ‘setback’. Things to do to strengthen my resilience 1. Changing negative self-talk to positive self-talk 2. Being aware of how upset I am and deciding to calm down. 3. Using relaxation. 4. Finding someone to talk with. 5. Finding something fun to do. 6. Finding a ‘time out’ area to de-stress. 7. Exercising 8. Having a good laugh and not taking things so seriously. 9. Being assertive. 10. Problem solving to figure out how to make the problem go away.

Ride2school September 2018

Bicycle Network’s Ride2School program supports thousands of schools across Australia to develop a healthy active travel culture. The Ride 2School program is supported and funded by the Victorian State Government and uses behaviour change methodologies to increase the number of students actively travelling to school all year round.

Part Way is ok too! This reduces drop off congestion around the school if you decide to leave your car a few blocks away and walk the remaining distance to school. The same applies if the distance between your home and school is unsafe and on a busy main road-then Part Way is the ideal solution. Here is an overall ‘Hands up Survey” for our students on the morning of Wednesday the 19th of September 2018. Ride/Skate/Scoot 29 students Walk 119 students Car 148 students Public Transport 0 students Our Active Travel rate for the school was 50%. The winner of the Active Traveller Award in the F-2 area of the school was Group 10 with 65% and in the 3-6 area of the school was Group 8 with 66% of students walking or riding to school for the month of September. Congratulations to all our active students from Groups 10 and 8. Did your class make the Top 5? F-2 3-6

Swimming It was lovely to visit our Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 students yesterday down at YMCA swimming school enjoying their swimming lessons. Watching them in the water with their instructors, they were having a wonderful time practising their swimming skills, some students having their very first experience in a swimming pool. It was delightful seeing how much fun they were all having. Elizabeth Bogdanovski
