for commuting.• Situation is worsening every day in

areas which house a majority of the city’s IT industry and other sectors.

•  Increase in vehicle population show no signs of abating and government is reluctant to introduce punitive measures.

Statement of Problem

“Increased Urban developemnt has increased traffic volume significantly while existing infrastructure proves insufficent to carry extra volume load. “

reduce volume.• To find efficent and effective

alternatives of transportation.• To understand why large traffic

volume exist on roads.• To find ways to curb environmental

threats posed by increased combustion-driven vehicles.

Suggestions• Increasing occupancy rates in vehicles. • Encourage use of public transport, especially

metro.• Spread awareness of enviromnetal and

economic impact of traffic.• Heavy investment in road and metro

infrastructure.• Proper training to BTP.• Encourage people to adopt non-road and

environmental friendly means of tranportation.

Conclusion• Bangalore has benefitted from the growth

boom of the past few decades, but road and transport haven’t grown proportionately which has caused turmoil on roads today.

• Public funds for transportation projects must be targeted in the future in a manner that leverages the strategic benefits of the investment through real coordinated road and transport strategies.
