    Challenges for non-bio renewable fuels

     RED often incorrectly interpreted as a biofuels directive

    rather than renewable transport fuels directive

     Important to level playing field with respect to biofuels as

    RED already allows for other renewable energy sources

     RED and FQD does not define explicitly what is a 'non-

    bio‘ renewable transport fuel

     Use energy balance to account for contribution of liquid

    fuels which are partially from renewable sources?

     Legacy status of methanol vis-a-vis ethanol (no waiver for

    RVP, low blend volume, lack of awareness)
