MUSIC IN THIS ERA
Music in this era generally consisted of:
Polyphonic music which was prominent during this
era, although homophony was used but mainly for
dances.
Same melodic idea throughout the entire song.
Gentle flow within the song, no sudden or rapid changes.
Moves within a scale with few large leaps therefore it was
easier to sing to.

9-Man Morris
This is a game designed for a 2 people to play and generally takes 5-15
minutes to play. The game could be easily set up within a few minutes
using some coins or other items that are easily accessible and lines
drawn in the mud.
The Board:
The board consists of 3 nested
squares with lines connecting
the mid-point of each side.
The pieces:
18 pieces, 9 for each player.
Continued..
Game play:
Players alternate placing markers on the 24 intersections,
attempting to get three-in-a-row. A line-of-three is called a mill.
Similar to tic tac toe. When a mill is created, the player may then
remove (pound) one opposing non-mill piece from the board. A
pounded piece is out of play.
Once all markers have been placed on the board (pounded off or
not) the game play changes slightly. Instead of adding a marker,
players now slide their markers along the lines. The game ends
when a player has only two pieces left or is pinned-in and unable
to make a move.
