CAMIGUIN ISLAND• Camiguin is derived from the native word
“Kamagong” a species of the ebony tree that thrives near Lake Mainit in the Province of Surigao del Norte.
• Earlier inhabitants of the island are Manobos from the Surigao region.
• Camiguin was part of Misamis Oriental until 1958 when it became a sub-province. It was made into a separate province on June 18, 1966, but was formally inaugurated only in 1968.

Lanzone is a typical tropical fruit and they say that the sweetest grows in Camiguin. This is to celebrate the fruit harvest which attracts a lot of tourists . Houses, people and streets are decorated with lanzones.

SINACABAN FLUVIAL PROCESSION
It’s an event practiced by the Aglipayan catholics of
Sinacaban honoring Saint Joseph.
PIPE ORGAN OF IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CATHEDRAL OF OZAMIS CITY
Composed of 1,936 pipes, it is the only pipe organ in
Mindanao. It is only surpassed in size by the pipe organ of the
Manila Cathedral.

FORT SANTIAGO (COTTA) IN OZAMIS CITY
This fort is an officially declared historical
landmark. It was built in 1756 by Jesuit Fr. Jose
Ducos as defense against marauding Muslim pirates.
BUKAGAN HILL IN MALAUBANG, OZAMIS CITY
Atop this 92-meter hill are four massive bells named “St. Peter”,
“St. Marien”, “St. Joseph” and “St. Michael.” The bells were intended for the Immaculate
Conception Cathedral. However, the bells were too heavy at 7 tons for the cathedral's belfry.
CENTURY-OLD NAZARENO DAM
It is an irrigation canal which is considered as one
of the best in the Philippines without the aid of the
sophisticated machinery.

EXOTIC DELICACIES IN REGION X
Piňasitas Binaki Dodol
Piñasitas, a pineapple-based product, is one of the
famous delicacies in Bukidnon.
Binaki is steamed cake made of grated young corn with powdered
milk, baking powder and sugar mixed with water.
The dodol is wrapped in corn husks or brightly colored
cellophane sheets.

EMMANUEL “MANNY” DAPIDRAN PACQUIAO
He was born in Kibawe, Bukidnon. He is a Filipino professional boxer. He is a
former world champion at IBF Super Bantamweight, and WBC
Flyweight divisions.
EMMANUEL PELAEZ
He came from Misamis Oriental who almost became the President of the Republic of the Philippines but became the 7th Vice President
of the Philippines.
