Reddam House High School Newsletter Volume 17 Issue 28
Friday 15th September 2017
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
This week is one of sad, sincere farewells. The Year 12
students have been in a turmoil of emotions as they
experienced a number of “lasts” in their time at Red-
dam. Last week of school, last formal lesson in each of
their subjects, last assembly. They bade farewell to the
school at their final assembly at Event Cinemas on
Friday. On Monday evening the School wishes them
well at their Valedictory. Such an emotional time as
the realization starts sinking in that it is actually all over,
bar the little matter of the HSC examinations, which
start in October.
The Year 11 students have also received their feedback
from their Final Examinations and have this week start-
ed their HSC courses. For some the relief of being able
to drop one subject and focus on their chosen five sub-
jects is palpable. I remind them that the expectation is
that they complete a subject change form which is
signed by the teacher of the subject being dropped
and their parents, then handed in to Mrs. Dovier.
Market Day for the Year 8 Entrepreneurship students
and Year 9 Commerce students is a highlight of the
year as it is the practical application of all that they
have learnt about running a small business.
There is always a huge amount of energy involved on
the day as the rest of the school supports their initia-
tives. It is interesting to see that the trend towards a
healthy lifestyle is reflected in in food that many stalls
had on offer. Mrs. Sahai was effervescent in her praise
of the student’s efforts and is happy that every out-
come that she had hoped would be achieved in fact
was and then some.
She mentioned that she saw some students come alive
as though running a business was what they were born
to do.

Student’s achievements on which to reflect include:
We have received 3 awards this year for the UNSW
Business and Economics awards. Having entered the
Australian Economics and Business Studies Competi-
tions both Jamie Conlon (Economics) and Lachlan
Muir (Business Studies), having done exceptionally well,
were awarded with monetary prizes at a Ceremony
at UNSW last Thursday. Congratulations to our finan-
cial and business leaders of the future.
Corey and Mitchell Ross were selected by the NRL to
be the official ball boys for the under 20's game at Alli-
anz last Sunday
The game was Sea Eagles vs Queensland Cow-
boys where Corey was in Sea Eagles colours and
Mitchell ran out in Cowboy colours. More amazing
was that the boys we able to meet the coaches and
the players of these teams at the game.
Joshua Devine competed at the Judo NSW 2017 Syd-
ney International Tournament recently held at the State
Sports Centre, Sydney Olympic Park. He competed in
both the Cadet Men and Junior Men Divisions, winning
2 out of 3 fights in the Cadet Men’s, winning the Bronze
Medal for his age and weight division. Good work
Joshua.
Enjoy the last week of Term 3. An email will be sent
home when the Term 3 reports are posted to Parent
Lounge next week.
School will close at 1:00pm on Friday.
