Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Getting reacquainted with past students is always
such a treat for teachers. To catch up and share with
reflected pride on the achievements of these past stu-
dents makes one’s day. The reunion on Saturday of
the Class of 2012 was one of those occasions. What
was also really very special was to see the bond that
they still have with each other despite, in some cases,
not having seen each other since school. The cama-
raderie was instantaneous and a wonderful evening
was enjoyed by all.
The Class of 2017 will soon be past students. They start-
ed their HSC examinations this week and to date the
following have been completed. English Paper 1 and
Paper 2 on Monday and Tuesday. I really felt for the
musicians who had the Music 1 and Music 2 papers on
Monday after English. On Wednesday Modern He-
brew, Thursday PDHPE and Modern History on Friday.
Quite a busy first week for all HSC students but one
which has started well for the Reddam cohort. English
Paper 2 contained a number of curved balls and Ms
Britten was anxious as to how our students would cope
with the very different style of question. She needn’t
have worried as when the teachers were checking in
with the students after the exam, they had all handled
the paper in the way they thought was appropriate.
The scenes on the pavement outside of the Bondi
Campus told the entire story. Keep it up Year 12s: two
and a half weeks to go!!!!
On Monday we welcomed the forty three students and four teachers back from Romania, Croatia and Hungary
where they had been involved in the International Community Service Project. The reports have been exceptionally
positive and Mr Garratt says that the positive impact that this group of students made on the Romanian orphanage
was incredible. They built four structures from foundations to roof. One was a wood shed for the storage and the
keeping of wood dry, which is needed for warmth and cooking in the extreme winters. A storage facility was also
built, along with extensions to the kitchen where a bread oven was bought and installed and an extension to the din-
ing room to include an outdoor eating area and the installation of an outdoor oven.
Their trek included sea kayaking, rafting and camping along the river and trekking to the mountain’s summit. This all
occurred in Croatia and finally there was some time for being a tourist in Budapest. We look forward to more de-
tailed feedback from the students.

On Monday evening we enjoyed the end of year recit-
al for our Year 9 to Year 11 Music Option students and
HSC candidates. It was an evening of musical diversity
featuring a Year 9 band, our Reddam House String
Quartet and the Year 10 Jazz Quartet "Comfortable
Shoes", and many solo items. It was an excellent
chance for Year 9 and 10 students to hear the new
Year 12 candidates who have just moved up from
completing their Preliminary year. These included: Joe
Newton performing Clair De Lune by Debussy; Avigayil
Erlich playing Bartok; Brock Rosen sang Johnny Cash's
'It Ain't Me';
Charlotte Brinkworth performed 'Your Heart is as Black
as Night' by Gardot; Xiao Zhang played the 3rd move-
ment of Beethoven's 'Pathetique' Sonata; Cella Purcell
sang Quincy Jones' 'Miss Celie's Blues';
Chloe Zou performed
Debussy's 'Cloches a
Tavers les Feullies'; Adina
Herz sang Alban Berg's
Lied 'Die Nachtigall'; and
Avital Greenberg sang
'Cry Me a River'.
On Wednesday some of our Junior Company mem-
bers performed 'Haunted' at the Independent Schools
Dance Festival. It was a massive day filled with re-
hearsing, performing and taking part in a Contempo-
rary Dance Workshop, which the students loved. As
always, our students were well behaved, engaged
and professional throughout the day. Tali Machet was
singled out in the workshop and selected to perform
the choreography in a smaller select group at the end
of the session. Amazing!
In the evening our girls did not
disappoint, giving a beautiful and
powerful performance. Ms Collier
reports that she and Ms Knight
could not have been more proud
of these dancers.
The following students were in-
volved: Maya Bienstock, Maya
Bauer, Jade Zellinger, Xiao Cao Neal, Kim Zahn, Annie
Rose and Tali Machet. Well done to all involved.

On Wednesday evening the Year 11 Prize Giving, In-
duction of the Senior Executive and Presentation of
the Platinum Programme was held in Adelaide Hall.
My thanks to Ms. Vince and Ms. Dovier, who can take
all the credit for the smooth running of this special
event.
We congratulate all the students who were acknowl-
edged and received Certificates of Distinction and
Medals in the various subjects. We congratulate our
Year 11 Dux students:
Bronze with an SCI of 93.0 James Rice
Silver with an SCI of 94.7 Joe Newton
Gold with an SCI of 96.0 Xiao Zhang
Congratulations to these three boys who all receive an
Honours Award for academic achievement as well.
My thanks to Glynda Blomson for once again collating
the Platinum Programme which is a special package
for the HSC students with special deals from shops in
the local area, tickets to Gold Class movies, gym
memberships at Fitness First, Library membership to
UNSW Library and various other meaningful inclusions
which signifies our support for the ―whole‖ student,
emotional, physical, social and academic. The em-
phasis on keeping a balance during this important
year was reinforced by all.
Congratulations to the following students who have
been elected by their peers to positions as Chairper-
sons of Portfolios, School Representatives and the Judi-
ciary. The school is in their hands and we all look for-
ward to their positive contribution as they lead the
school in 2018.

Next week on Monday we have a Seminar Day for
Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9 students and while they are
engaged in learning off campus, the Year 7(2018) stu-
dents will enjoy an Orientation Day at the school as we
share a ―day in the life‖ of Year 7, for these students to
get a feel for High School and to meet the other stu-
dents who will be joining them in Year 7 next year from
other local Primary Schools.
Have a good week ahead.
