Ahmedabad University (AU) is committed to providing education that prepares

challenges of our societies. Accordingly, our curricula at the Amrut Mody School of
Management (AMSOM) prepare students with the intellectual, personal and
professional growth required to thrive and help others thrive. The school works
closely with industry to provide robust balance between practice orientation and
rigor and conceptual education. It also enables learning through project based
pedagogy involving in-depth projects and international collaborations. The school
also offers access to courses across other schools and partner universities as well as
opportunities to engage with resources and initiatives at the Center for Heritage
Management and the Venture Studio. Further, the courses and the programs are
continually reviewed and updated to ensure that they remain relevant and
contemporary. The student body is diverse in terms of academic background and
balanced in terms of gender mix.
The infrastructure at AMSOM comprising modern facilities, well equipped
laboratories and fast growing library provide an environment that is congenial for
learning. Besides a large collection of books, journals and online resources, the
library system at Ahmedabad University provides easy access to several databases
and resources at all AU libraries are available for students.
Besides the infrastructure, the student body is well supported and mentored by the
faculty team. The faculty is active in research and case writing and involves the
students in their research, whenever possible. In addition, the school facilitates
professional and personal development through workshops, conferences and other
extra-curricular events organized on campus.
In summary, I believe that our students are well trained and prepared to face real

Amrut Mody School of Management (AMSOM), (previously called AES Post Graduate Institute of Management) was established
in the year 2000 by the Ahmedabad Education Society (AES). Over the years, the Institute has moved from strength to strength
and has been amongst the top ranking management institutes in Gujarat. The Institute has received an ‘A’ accreditation by the
NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council). The Government of Gujarat has granted the Institute to admit students
on its own and not through Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC). We understand the importance of good
inputs to reach to better outputs. For this, we follow a rigorous three stage admission process. Applicants shortlisted on CAT/
CMAT scores are called for a round of group discussion and personal interview in front of a panel. Weights are also assigned for
work experience of the applicant. The Institute endeavours to achieve the transformation of graduates to professionals through
proper blend of knowledge, skills and attitude which is pertinent to the current industry requirement.

Our students are exposed to the challenging corporate world through various interactive activities and events throughout the
course. This intensive pedagogy makes them ready to face challenges in the ever changing corporate world.
To ensure the industry readiness of our students, we cover various packages like SPSS, AMOS, TORA, LISREL and R. Students are
also given various projects based on databases like CMIE Prowess, EBSCO, and Emerald etc.
Students are exposed to the real life problems and they work on providing practical solutions for them. Few of the courses

Each student is required to complete a summer internship of 6-8 weeks at the end of the first year of M.B.A. Though it is not a
graded course, the students are required to get a Satisfactory grade to be eligible to be promoted to the Second Year of M.B.A.
The Institute has formed various clubs which are managed by students to keep themselves updated about the current
developments in the corporate world. Knowledge Club, Finance Club, Marketing Club and HR Club are active clubs where
interested students participate on regular basis.

Under the aegis of AMSOM Annual Lecture Series, we invite eminent personalities to interact with faculty members and
students. Mr. Keki Mistry, Vice Chairman and CEO, HDFC and Mr. Nasser Munjee, Chairman, Development Credit Bank (DCB)
have graced such events.
Under the CEO Lecture Series our students get opportunity to interact and learn from CEOs of reputed companies. It uses a
unique format wherein the CEO engages the students into a dialogue through a case analysis. Shri M.V. Subbiah, Chairman,
Murugappa Group; and Mr. R. Joy Christian, Director, Impact HR Solutions have shared real life cases with our students.
To promote entrepreneurial spirit among the students, we invite entrepreneurs to share their experiences of their journey. Mr.
Vishal Mehta, Founder & CEO, Infibeam was the first speaker in the series.
Ashmayu, the Entrepreneurship cell is a students’ body dedicated to promoting the spirit of entrepreneurship among students of
AMSOM. This cell is active in organizing events, lectures, seminars and any such activities which encourages entrepreneurship
among the students. The cell has organized events in collaboration with NEN (National Entrepreneurship Network) and KEIO
University, Japan apart from many other institute and University level events.

We regularly invite experts from academia as well as from
industry to share their knowledge and experience with the
faculty and the students. This makes the students updated
with the ever changing corporate practices.
As part of the program as well as specific course
requirements, students are taken for industrial visits and field
trips.
The aim is to provide a platform for knowledge dissemination
among the students of various peer B-Schools using the
medium of summer internship projects carried out by 1st year oM.B.A. students. 361 is a flagship co-curricular activity at
AMSOM for the last fourteen years.

The AMSOM Way - Orientation Week
Spandan - Cultural Festival
Orientation week is an ‘acclimatization’ period for the First
year students of our MBA program. During this week they
are introduced to the key facilities in the Institute and
University. They are familiarized with the system and
processes which would facilitate their learning at AMSOM.
The program activities include Micro lab, which is the ice-
breaking session for the students. The program briefing is
done to orient them towards the expectation and rules of
the Institute. As most of the subjects have case study based
pedagogy, hence, case study workshop is also conducted.
They are also given hands on training for the use of certain
software and databases like Prowess, EBSCO, and Emerald.
The students went for the industrial visit to Havmore Ltd. As
part of ‘Social Engagement Experience,’ they visited the Blind
People’s Association. A session with the selected alumni was
also scheduled.
The institute organizes its annual cultural festival, ‘Spandan’
to provide a platform for the students to portray their latent
talent. It is a cultural festival full of energy, enthusiasm,
activities, rhythm, and fun. Like every year, this year too, the
students had organized both literary and cultural events
under the aegis of Spandan. This year Spandan was held on
February 12-13, 2016. Events ranging from salad/chaat
competition, which tested the culinary skills of the students
to T-shirt, ad mad show & face painting competitions which
tested their grit in designing to elocution, just-a-minute and
poetry which tested their literary skills to business quiz
which tested their quizzing skills to dance, singing and
fashion show which brought out their talents were organized
in the event this year. All the events were made open for
participation to students of AU sister concerns and peer
institutions of repute.

Alumni, our brand ambassadors, are the ones who represent
us in the industry. The Institute has a very active Alumni
Relations Cell. It arranges a meet every year which provides
them a platform for all the alumni to meet their batch mates
and fellow batch mates. They have fun enjoying movies,
games and interactive talks during such meets.
The Institute has an active Women Development Cell to
promote the well-being of female students, teaching and
non-teaching women staff of the Institute. Varied activities
were conducted during the year on issues relating to their
health, personal development and social level. Activities like
blood donation camp, Thalassemia screening, health check-
up, various talks and seminars relating to health, information
on higher studies, workshops on personal grooming, gender
sensitization and a workshop on self defense were organised
for girl students during the year. The Cell also has an anti
narcotics club working with Narcotics Control Bureau to
combat the menace of drug abuse on campuses.
The University organizes Youth Festival to showcase the
talent of all students in extracurricular activities. The students
at AMSOM participate enthusiastically in these activities. This
ensures all round development of students.
The students at AMSOM actively engage in sports activities
at the Institute as well as at the University level. The Institute
is well equipped with various indoor and outdoor sports
equipments. The students also have access to the University
sports complex. Students also participate in inter college
events and win laurels for the Institute.

Individual Social Responsibility Initiative (ISRI) – Creating Humanagers
ISRI is a project envisaged to make students aware of grass
root realities of people and communities belonging to the
deprived, marginalized and differently abled sections of the
society. As a part of ISRI, students get associated with any
social or development organization for two years as
volunteers and spend time with communities to understand
their reality of life and also to understand how one can
respond to such realities. This helps in developing empathy,
value orientation and citizenship among the students.

Ahmedabad University (AU) campus is centrally located in the heart of the city of Ahmedabad in the middle of Ahmedabad’s
knowledge precinct that comprises premium educational institutes such as ATIRA, CEPT, IIM, PRL etc. This provides a thriving and
pulsating academic ambience. AU is a city university with a central campus and facilities surrounding it. The campus comprises
heritage buildings and new architecture creating a unique blend of its historical lineage and a contemporary future.
Out of the total land of 250 acres available for development of Ahmedabad University, in phase 1, about 70 acres have been
earmarked for intensive development for academic buildings and student amenities.
The Central Campus comprises the School of Engineering and Applied Science and the Division of Biological and Life Sciences.
The South Campus consists of the University Office that houses the university administration and the Amrut Mody School of
Management’s undergraduate programmes. The School of Computer Studies is located in the East Campus.
At AMSOM classrooms morph into learning centres. They are equipped with the state-of-the-art facilities and can accommodate
120 students. They are furnished ergonomically and have a provision of sound acoustics. They are equipped with wireless
connectivity, LCD projectors and multimedia tools.

The Computer Centre
The computer centre extend state-of-the-art facilities to all the users. Centralized computing facilities are provided to meet the
current and future needs which fulfill the requirement of all academic functions of the Institute. The hardware and software are
constantly being upgraded to meet the latest international standards. The computer center is supported servers with multiple
laptops and all-in-one with multimedia facilities. WiFi Hotspot have been installed for wireless network. The Institute has an
advanced intranet which enables students to access faculty course materials, take quizzes, submit assignments and provide
feedback.

Hostel
The University library collection includes more than 20,000 books on business, management, engineering, computer science, life
sciences, humanities etc. and 120+ National and International periodicals apart from audio-visuals CDs/DVDs, research
publications, electronic publications, annual reports, case studies and more. The library also provides access to other resources
that include e-books, electronic journals and online databases like ACM Digital Library, ACS, CMIE, Ebsco Business Source Elite,
Emerald Management First, EPWRF, IEEE, India Stat, JSTOR, N LIST, PROWESS, Science Direct, SPSS, TRACXN, Venture Intelligence
etc.
Books and other publications which are not available in the library system are procured by the library on Interlibrary loan from
other libraries & institutions for the benefit of the members of the library.
Further, to cater to the information needs of users, Ahmedabad University library has its Institutional membership with various
reputed Institutions such as INFLIBNET, DELNET, British Library, IIMA, AMA, AIMS (International membership) and IIT
Gandhinagar.
Residential facilities are available for outstation students at AES run hostels. There are separate hostels for boys and girls.

Facilities for Recruiters
Companies intending to visit the campus for recruitment may contact the Placement Cell with the basic details about company, job profile, job descriptions, job location, compensation offered and any other specifications, if required. Once the interest of the company is received the Placement Cell will make necessary arrangements for the Pre-Placement Talk (PPT), final selection and inform company about the same.
PPT provides an opportunity to the recruiting company and the students to interact with each other and this helps students to take an informed decision. The presentation by the company is in general regarding the history, growth potential, future plans and details about the profile, compensation package/ location offered and any such relevant information.
Companies are invited to schedule PPT starting from the month of October 2016.
The company is requested to inform the Institute Placement Cell of their recruitment procedure. The company may send details of their selection procedure (online aptitude test, psychometric test, group discussions, number of rounds of interviews, etc.), which will enable the Institute to make necessary arrangements. By the end of the selection process, the company will inform the Institute Placement Cell about the final selection of the candidates thereafter in writing.
