description

This presentation shows how to export data from Quizlet and import it into Moodle. Since Quizlet does not allow you to track student progress in a gradebook, this option, via http://pin13.net/quizlet/ is very helpful and quick. It's easy but complicated.

Learn. Practice. Assess.

Is it possible to take list words or more and make learning, practice, and assessment materials in under 10 minutes?

What used to take me about an hour, can now be done in 5 minutes.

After you’ve taken some time to explore your Quizlet account and added a few sets or created them from scratch, let’s try some things.

1. Export your card set.

After selecting a card set from “Your Sets and Classes,” select Export in the More Tools dropdown menu located on the far right.

1. Export your card set.Choose “select all” in the Data section. This will keep the data in your clipboard, the place your computer keeps that last thing you copied.

The options should be set to “Tab” and “New Line.”

Go to http://pin13.net/quizlet/ and paste the Quizlet export data into the text box.

2. Convert the content to Gift format.Select “Download in a file.” I like to save to desktop so it’s easier to drag and drop into the dashed-line box in Moodle.

3. Import the file into Moodle.

Now that you have the data converted to a Gift format, you are ready to import into Moodle. I like to set up the category in Moodle before importing so the questions are organized immediately (not shown below).

3. Import the file into Moodle.

Either choose a file from your computer or other storage, and click “import” to begin. I like to drag and drop because it saves a few clicks, which can be helpful when mistakes are made.

4. Check the success. If the import includes all the questions or words/definitions, chances are very good that all went as planned.

4. Check the question bank.Organize your questions into specific categories on this page. This is also a good time to check settings and preview questions to make sure the formatting doesn’t cause any problems.

Thank You!

This is one (quick) way to do it. I also like importing using the Aiken format -- Slide presentation coming soon.
