My Magazine

Page 3: Q2

• The magazine Deuces is meant to target an youthful, modern audience similar to many music magazines such as Vibe.• Therefore a young model has been used instead of an adult or older model in order to create realism, authenticity

and appeal to the young audience as they tend to respond to youths of a similar age rather than someone who is not of the same age range. There has also been use of modern language and vocabulary full with very simple wordings and some modern slang words often associated with this Hip-hop culture. As a result I have indeed represented the younger teenage people in a stereotypical manner, as they are very familiar with slang language as it is often associated with the youths of this generation. This will therefore satisfy their needs as they can relate to the article an easily understand what is being said.

• The only fonts that were used in the magazine were weathered WF and Times New Roman. These fonts are very

general and simplistic, which targets the audience to a better degree than other types of fonts as our youthful audience do not really pay much attention to the font used it is not unimportant as image and colour scheme used in a magazine therefore I incorporated a simplistic font which is easy for the audience to read and understand.

• • In the magazine double page spread, The costumes used for the artists consists of is fashionable/casual attire

consisting of skirt, heels, tights and a crop top. I believed this costume part of the Mise-en-scene represented my audience very well, as these outfits would reflect upon the sort of outfits that the viewers would wear for

• As it is not only fashionable and on trend but it is also quite casual allowing the readers to relate to it and be inspired by this therefore it addresses their own characteristics. As my magazine incorporates a fashion section it is key that my artist is wearing trendy clothes and as my artist is internationally iconic fashion figure the audience will immediately be attracted to her appearance and style and try emulate and imitate her image.

• The poses that the artists are holding also represents the youthful social group as they are not trying to look silly, not trying to look normal, and not trying to look boring instead are appearing to look very sophisticated and eccentric which would appeal to the audience more as they to may share some of these characteristics therefore they can relate to the artist and enjoy watching her gestures and stances.

• I have also manage to subvert many stereotypes as the hip-hop genre is full of male artists my magazine

consists of a female artists as the main image this is significant as it represents changing times and the modern hip-hop genre as there has been a growing number of female artists of this genre. This will attract my audience as it reinforces its modern image and suggests it is up to date on all the latest trends in the music industry.

• In my double page spread I refer to social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter this reinforce the youthful image and theme of my music magazine as these are often associated with youths and teenagers as they commonly use these sites this will therefore appeal to them as they can relate to this situation of constantly tweeting about every thing they come across also they might be up-to-date with the show im taking about as the could be following Coca Electra on these sites therefore this gives them a clear understanding of what is going on in this situation and makes them feel involved in this conversation.

• The limited number of colour consistently used throughout my magazine are Pink, blue, white and black these colours are quite vibrant and colorful this will attract my target audience as they are youthful and often prefer bright lively coloring rather than double boring colours. This will help catch their attention and appeal to all their needs.
