What is Formula SAE?
The 2007 Purdue FSAE car in the Endurance Event
Design
Formula SAE (FSAE) is one of the student design competitions sanctioned by the Society of Automotive Engineers. Adhering to rules published by SAE International, students use their creativity and engineering skills to design, build, and race a small, Indy style racecar. Re-strictions are placed on overall dimensions, en-gine, and tire sizes. Students are encouraged to apply their design ideas and engineering theo-ries to the rest of the car’s design.
Manufacture and Test
Our team manufactures each component re-quired for the design. Students gain valuable skills in machining, manufacturability, and de-sign validation. Our team must set deadlines to ensure that there is enough time for testing of designs and also validate that they are reli-able enough for competition.
International CompetitionTeams from around the world compete at three competitions. There are competitions in Vir-ginia, Michigan, and California during the months of April, May, and June respectively. Each competition not only attracts students but also thousands of spectators, industry profes-sionals, and businesses from many industries. Designs are scored by industry professionals based on three static events and four dynamic events.
Formula SAE Highlights:
Vehicles are student designed, built and operated
Competitions provide exposure to students, in-dustry professionals and spectators
Students use teamwork while learning valuable problem solving and technical skills
Static Events: Dynamic Events:
Presentation, Cost, Acceleration, Skid Pad,
Design Auto Cross, Endurance

What We Do
Our Mission
To enable students to learn about the design, manufacture and analysis of vehicles while cre-ating a competitive car that is innovative and unique.
Problem Solving
As a team, we work together to find creative solutions to the problems that may arise throughout the year. These problems can be seen in any phase of the project, from packag-ing the designs using CAD software, to final testing of the completed vehicle. Every chal-lenge is a chance to improve both the design and our knowledge base.
Teamwork
Above all else, the Purdue Formula Society of Automotive Engineers is a team. As a group, we continue to seek new ways to combine our world renowned engineering abilities with indi-viduals’ own experiences. Building the trust and cooperation between team members allows to create an innovative racecar.

History & Competition
History
Purdue Formula SAE’s recent history began in 1992. The team has worked and evolved for just over a decade. The main goal has always been improvement. Each year, designs are im-proved upon, and challenges are overcome.
Brief Purdue FSAE History:
2007, FSAE West Competition:, 4th Overall
2001, FSAE East Competition, 9th Overall
2001, Formula is offered as a design and technical elective option for undergraduates
2007
2006
Competition
The Formula SAE Competitions are intended to test our designs and our knowledge about the various aspects of vehicle design and manufacture. Each year our car is put through rigorous evaluations during the dynamic events. These events test the drivability, reli-ability and overall performance of the car. We also present our car to the judges for their cri-tiques. We then work to learn from the criti-cisms and improve our design strategy for fu-ture years.

Becoming A Sponsor
What Sponsorship Means To Our Team
In short, a sponsorship with Purdue FSAE means that your company supports our pro-gram and our goals. By making a donation of time, parts, material, equipment, or funds, you are supporting our students in a great learning opportunity. Sponsorship helps to build con-nections between companies and future mem-bers of industry, our students.
How To Become A Sponsor:
Contact Purdue FSAE to discuss the type of donation you would like to make
Ask us about the opportunities we have for companies to be involved with our team
Make your donation by mailing a check to the address on the back of this packet, or by con-tacting us to arrange a time to meet regarding parts, material or time donations
Visit our shop, attend a competition, or con-tact us to see your donation in action.
Why We Need Sponsors
Our cars are completely student designed and built. This includes obtaining funding for the entire project. The budget for a FSAE car can range between $30,000 to $40,000 per year. Depending on material and design changes, our budget fluctuates each year. In order to meet our design standards and remain com-petitive, we need funding to purchase our ma-terials and supplies.
Benefits Of Being A Sponsor
As our sponsor, your company will receive both recruiting and advertising benefits. All of our sponsors have access to recruit students for em-ployment. You have the option of using email, visiting our shop, or speaking at a meeting. Your company can also reach audiences outside of our team, by placing your logo on our web-site and car. Gold and Titanium level sponsors can take their marketing one step further by utilizing team photos and videos in advertise-ments.

Levels of Sponsorship
Contribution Levels
Any level of sponsorship is greatly appreciated by our team. The sponsorship levels shown below reflect the benefits for each donation level. We would like all of our sponsors to see the difference their donations have made to our team, so our shop is always open to spon-sor visits. In addition, each level above Pa-tron will receive advertising opportunities.
Benefits Of Being A Sponsor:
Access to recruit our team members through our email list
Visitation of our shop during any normal oper-ating hours, contact us for more details
Presentation time at our team meetings to re-cruit for employment
