Pupil Achievements - Seaton House School

For the week ending: Friday 1st March, 2019 Dear Parents In Senior House, this week seems to have been dominated by hockey, reading (World Book Day) and swimming! Rest assured that we also managed to squeeze in the necessary academic curriculum! All the events provided opportunity for winning and losing and also for participating in activities that we may find difficult. The challenges that were faced and met, have allowed our girls to either shine or face their fears and survive. In terms of life skills and personal development, progress and achievement in these areas out stripped the academic goals this week. Hooray! Our children are preparing for real life! I hope that you all enjoy a peaceful weekend after a very busy week. This year, our My Marsden March will take place on Friday 8th March when the whole school will walk to the Royal Marsden Hospital to raise money to help beat cancer.

This morning, a visitor from the Royal Marsden came to our school assembly to show us how all the money we raise is put to use; from funding play therapists at the Children’s

Cancer Unit to helping to fund amazing robot technology to help treat cancer patients.

Please, please click on our link below to donate to this very worthwhile cause and to leave vital messages

of support for our girls.

Please help us to smash this year’s target of £2,019!

World Book Day

On Thursday, we celebrated World Book Day. Each class was designated an author and we dressed as our favourite characters from our chosen books. We participated in lots of activities and held a whole school assembly at the end of the day to showcase everything we had learned. Huge thanks to Mrs Riddick for organising such a wonderful day and also to Nick and Hannah from Love Theatre Arts who created mini productions for each class to perform.

Our Swimathon Team: Maya T, Gracie S, Isabella, Amelia, Kaiya, Gracie B and Ella T, will be swimming to raise money for charity. Good Luck Girls!

We warmly welcome you to come and watch and cheer on our team of swimmers. Banners to cheer on our Seaton House Team are very welcome too! Our team must swim continuously for 55 minutes, with only one girl in the pool at any given time. The aim is to swim as many lengths as

possible to raise money for charity and for Seaton House School. Seaton House keep 60% of all money raised, the remainder going to three

charities chosen by the Rotary Club: End Polio Now, Purley Food Hub and The Firefighters’ Charity.

Please try to support our girls - they will be one of the youngest teams at the event! The link for our Just Giving Page is above. Cheques are payable to ‘The Rotary Club of Purley Trust Fund’. Please return paper

forms and sponsorship money no later than 15th March 2019.

Thank you in advance for your support. Mrs Mannooch.

The girls were discussing next week’s Marsden March

Pupil 1: ‘What’s the Marsden March again?’

Pupil 2: ‘It’s when the whole school walks to the Royal Marsden Hospital, to raise money. It’s good fun -

we have balloons and cakes and stuff.’

Pupil 1: ‘Is it far?’

Pupil 2: ’Yes, I think it’s about a hundred miles away. I expect we’ll be quite tired.’
